Beer is brain food

Recently discovered a small store specializing in beer, mainly bottled, from various places, shelves of beer all seperated and marked for either American state or non-American country where they originate from. The store owner will let you get a six pack of mixed types. Some of the bottles are actually larger than normal, the amount in them qualifies as having 2 normal beer bottles. Some of these larger bottles are even corked but do not be fooled, you cannot recork them and save some for later like with wine.

So far have tried:
Hurricane Kitty
Brooklyn Winter Ale
Sarnac Season's Best
Original Sin Hard Cider
ACE Hard Cider

Speaking of alcohol and trains, I remember a couple of decades ago when I used to ride local transit to drinking places, take my fill of beer, Alabama Slammer and/or Tequila Sunrises then ride back. Sometimes on the return trip I would wake to find myself past my stop.:hehe:

Mine's a pint please

No, no ...... you're doing it incorrectly.

You must drink on board, and you are not drinking fast enough!

Try drinking at full speed. It is then quite possible to arrive at your destination ahead of the train.

The greatest beer ever brewed is of course:

But since I live in North Carolina I feel a need to mention a stronger drink produced locally known as Moonshine.

I haven't had good moonshine in a while but I used to have a neighbor who knew where to get the good stuff. One time a bunch of us were just kicking back (this was after a hurricane had knocked all of our power out). So we where just enjoying the "no power build a campfire in the yard thing" that night passing around a jug of the good stuff.

And the 'shine flowed on thru the night.

Not sure how I made it home (across the street), but when I woke up on the floor I was facing a direction 180 degrees opposite my normal direction which lead me to believe that my home had been secretly rotated whislt I sleep.

An outside investigation revealed the error of my initial assesment.

The power of moonshine must never be underestimated.:hehe:

As long as your drinking Ness A Guin on its home soil, then yes but even across the Irish Sea, it never tastes just quite as good and you need to find a bar where they actually know how to pour the stuff!

The licensed stuff they brew in NZ is foul, even when they proclaimed to great fanfares, that they were going to start using the original recipe (what the hell they'd been selling up to that point was anyone's guess) it still wasn't even close to the original. That's why I drank Kiwi beer the whole time I was there.

If you have a penchant for moonshine, there's always poitín as an alternative if you like being known as the local steamer. Hehe.

Doesn't that double as something else? Rust stripper?:hehe:

But I have had similar. I had one friend during my late teens who dared everyone we knew to try Grain Alcohol, has the highest Proof (190) of anything that can be legally bought (at least then). One shot of it and you know your liquor tolerance for the rest of your life.

As a confirmed suds slurper for neigh on to half a century, now, I can assure you that the conversation would not be complete without my two cents in there. As a previous member noted, if beer was brainfood then I'm a genius!
I can assure you younger folk, that such is not the case..........
However, in my travels far and wide, in the pursuit of career, I've had the opportunity to sample brew from many countries; with few exceptions, none of it was really bad..........
I particularly like the English beers, and would often go pub-hopping with shipmates, sampling the local products........
Although I'm a confirmed 'Bud' drinker (I know it sucks, but it's cheap!) at home, I do splurge once in a while for the more exotic US brews. Sam Adams, in any of its variations is excellent. In the summer, Blue Moon (a wheat beer) with a twist of orange, cools the pallet well while admiring T-shirted, short pantsed lovelies. Anchor Steam (a San Francisco brew) is a tad heavier, but goes well on the wintry slopes between ski runs (set off with an occasional Irish coffee (made with a good Irish whiskey) to warm-up the soul. But I have to admit, the best tasting 'everday' beer I had is Yeungling; a Pennsylvania brew, just great for sitting around the bar, talking to complete strangers, about stuff you wouldn't even tell your kids about!
What do I drink while Trainzing? Whatever's in the fridge!

Being from Kentucky I have a a taste for good moonshine. Now living here in Thailand there is the local brew of "shine" known as lao kaow. It should be called rocket fuel or rust stripper as it would be a good use for the stuff. I have some form time to time when special occasions occur like weddings or funerals I'll have a taste but I have the same problem. Someone always misplaces my house :hehe:

You know I think there is a far better subject then this one..Talking about taking up Bandwidth..The subject here is TRAINZ..

Breweries are an acceptable industry therefore this is on topic.;)
After all we are talking about beer's effect on BRAINZ that affects the ability to drive TRAINZ.:p

Hi Everybody

I have to agree. Drinking too much beer certainly does expand your bandwidth.:hehe:

NB:-I can't believe this thread is still going on. Great laugh though. It's all pfx fault, he started this thread knowing he would get us all in trouble

Bob,

I do think there is a place for the occasional thread load of mirth and merriment. After all, it is relatively rare.

Most of the posters in this thread are well known contributors to screenshots, helping out with the technical, creative and other Trainz related matters, so it’s not as if it’s a disruptive group.

We’ve had a good few Trainz related quips, a couple of beer related screenshots and kuid links, so it has, at least in parts, been relevant.

I think of it as a bit of teambuilding. A little light relief probably does nothing but promote harmony and a better understanding amongst those who may violently disagree on other matters!

~snip~..Talking about taking up Bandwidth..~snip~

I remember taking up rough cider in my teens, in later life I took up real ales such as Bishops Tipple, Ringwood 49er and Old Speckled Hen.

Which brewery markets Bandwidth? I’ve not heard of than one.

Cheers

Should I perhaps have the final word on this thread then?

Firstly, I hold my hands up and take full responsibility (as I'm currently sober) for starting this. I thought that a bit of light-hearted banter would be fine in the community thread.

It was refreshing to find a common ground with some familiar Trainzers from around the world and to discuss that in a sometimes sensible way without any coherant bickering and such like.

I raise my glass, albeit empty, to you all.

Hi Everybody
snip~I raise my glass, albeit empty, to you all.PFX~snip

PFX it was nearly 9:15 at night when you posted the above snip, and your glass was......... still empty. I hope you realize that keeping your mind that long without brain food is very unhealthy.:hehe:

I advise that you just keep on expanding your bandwidth.

Today's San Francisco Chronicle had this picture in one of it's photo albums. I think it may be appropriate:

Several months ago, scientists at a European human reproduction conference suggested that the result of recent analysis revealed the presense of female hormones in beer, and suggested that men should take a look at their beer consumption.

The theory is that drinking beer makes men turn into woman.

To test the theory, 100 men were each fed six pints of beer within a one-hour period. It was then observed that 100% of the men gained weight, talked excessively without making sense, became overly emotional, couldn't drive, failed to think rationally, argued over nothing, had to sit down while urinating, couldn't perform sexually, and refused to apologize when wrong.

No further testing is planned.
