Been thinking again about redoing my route - starting over.

I posted a few months ago about this, with no responses mind you, about me reworking sections of my on-going never finished route. Recently I've started using more and more DEMs and less hand-built baseboards, and the terrain results is so much better! I never realized the difference until I started driving the DEM portion. The way the roads cross the tracks, the way the track undulates with the landscape, and other features that make this a really belivebale place especially due to the terrain being a real place to start with. I've only changed the names to what I want.

So now I've been thinking about starting more or less from scratch. I may or may not keep some of the improved sections, but for the most part everything is going to be new construction. In part this is because my modeling technqiues have improved, or they should have since I've been at this for nearly 6 years!

Part of the reason is I noticed a big performance difference between the sections, which is interesting. The newest sections, which have plenty of content, and were built in TRS2006 and up, have the best performance. The older sections, built in TRS2004 SP1 and before, run the worst with content missing and popping up later, stutters, etc. What's interesting is these older sections have the same objects as the newer sections! So I can't explain what's going on.

This will be quite an undertaking I know. Has anyone else gone through this type of metamorphosis before?

Hey John,

Any pics of this route?

I done something similar with a previous route called 'Mortan Hill Railway' i chose to keep a 2 part section which contain my best 'gorge' modeling but the rest including the new direction and layout of the central river was re-modeled completely.

Hi Dan,

I sure do have some pictures. They're not the latest section, but up to a year or so ago. Check out the threads for the Enfield and Eastern up on the Screenshots forum.
