B&O Docksider Tank Loco.

Dear Trainz Community,

I am building a version of John Allen's final Gorre & Daphetid Railroad. All is going well but I lack the Docksider tank which lived at Gorre. I kow Mr. Ben Neal made one but, excellent a model though it is, it is incompatible with TS12. There is no way I can upgrade it and wondered if there may be someone who would be able to. I see a number of Ben's Baldwins etc. on the DLS but not the Docksider.

I know man who would build one as a commission but I need scale drawings which I am unable to source. Could someone point me I the right direction if no-one can do Ben's version?

Many thanks.

Chris.

England.

Hi Chris

I have the docksider installed as part of the Murchison2 DLC and it works fine in TS12 HF4. Because of this I don't want to install the original version to see what the errors are so can you post the errors that you are finding with it and myself or someone else may be able to help you fix it.

Regards

Brian

Thanks Brain,

The asset "Docksider Engine" is full of errors - "firebox-volume" and "boiler to piston-flow" are deemed obsolete. Many other elements have been set to default. Should I just delete the obsolete elements - they are highlighted in red when the asset is edited in CM.

The asset "Docksider Invisible Bogey" complains thus, "Texture 'engine_black_texture' is missing or could not be loaded in mesh 'invis.im'. material 'editing' *docksider invisible bogey**invisbogey*A33F95B*material#1*m.onetex'.

What?

Easy one first, make an 8x8 black tga for the missing Texture 'engine_black_texture and name it engine_black.tga and put it in the assets folder, create a new text file call it engine_black_texture.txt edit it to read or just copy and paste the bit below and put the file in the folder as well, actually you can use any old small tga just rename it to suit as it's not visible!
This is a pretty standard fix for Bens stuff, happens a lot.
Code:
primary=engine_black.tga
tile=st

The other problem is it really needs a TS12 steam engine spec, as they have changed somewhat since TS2004.

Probably any TS12 0-4-0 engine spec would do and you may have to use a TS12 engine sound as well.

Edit, just checked the readme and it has 4ft drivers may need to look for a 4-4-0 baldwin espec as most of the 0-4-0's are small wheels.

Hi again Chris

Just delete the obsolete lines in the "Docksider Engine" config file. That should sort the engine spec out. For the invisible bogie error can you have a look and see if the engine_black_texture actually exists in the asset? If it is there then it could be in the wrong slot in the mesh and will need repairing with PEVs tools or Asset X. If it isn't there then it can be copied and pasted from an asset that contains it. I found it in Bens USRA mallet invisible bogie which I have installed from the pack of Bens locos that Philskene updated for TS12.

See if this helps and if not post any errors that remain here and I will look further into it.

Brian

it is incompatible with TS12.
I have it working just fine in Trainz 12 Pre-SP1. I would like to point out that there is an update to the invisible bogey that should be on the DLS: 'Docksider invisible bogey', made by bdaneal, <kuid2:96914:50981:1>. This update resolves the missing texture 'engine_black.texture' that's needed for 'invis.im'.

Hi Chris,

I think I have it updated in one of my versions of Trainz, I'll see if I can find it and let you know.
It's not a loco that I use very often.

Cheers,

I have found it in TRS2009. It requires a few more mods to run in TS12, mostly the engine config and the sound, but I am having trouble finding all the specs required to make an engine config.

The B&O C-16 Docksider has been updated to build 3.3 and sent to Ben. It will probably appear on his website soon.

Cheers,
