Australian/English running by default?

I've doubled tracked the north/south segment (To/From Sweetgrass) of my modified Marias Pass Approach route. I let the system decide how to run the trains to the next trackmark without forcing them to run on one-way tracks. It gets very interesting watching the results. I'm using TRS06 on one computer and TRS09 on another.

When I send a train to the "To Sweetgrass" portal, if left to it's own devices, it will travel north on the west track. There's a crossover just south of the portal, which is located at the northern end of the east track, so the train will cross over and find its way to the correct portal.

Is that "Australian/English" running method a Trainz default?

Left hand running is not default.

Default AI behaviour is to always use the shortest available route, so in this case the left-hand track must be on the inside of more curves than the right hand track and is therefore marginally shorter...

You're right, Andy.

A close look at the route to Sweetgrass shows that the long curves turn toward the northwest, which puts the west track on the inside of the turns. Thanks.

Hope you weren't affected by the flooding.
