Auran Site not loading and timing out often

I would like to know why is it when I try to go into Auran, their site often times out or says it can't be found? When I try again, then it just takes a hundred years to load all the graphics seemingly. Could you please fix this problem? Thank you.

It's a lost cause Andrew ...Until Auran puts some money into upgrades it'll be the same old system.

Take care good Buddie!! :)

BTW -- A couple of friends I know for years and I will open a free site soon ... I'll send you the link via pm ... not just for trainz but anything, in terms for other games, entertainment and political discussion, if you like that sort of them, Andew!

I would love that very much.

I hope many others will participate too. Soon maybe I can release some routes of mine as well and stop being so secretive with them-LOL.

The connection between your ISP and the Auran servers is probably the problem. Here in Ottawa on teksavvy it's fine. Its Bell's DSL service resold under a different name. Comes in at $75 a month including phone and UK long distance quite a bit cheaper than Rogers.

I am on Cogeco in Niagara and the service is fine. Auran's site is the only site that I use, that has issues so I am going to say that ISP is not the issue.

Given that others do not seem to be having major problems this would suggest that the Auran servers and connections to the Internet are working correctly.

The Internet is an odd place, not all email servers are known to all other email servers, not all ISPs are interconnected in the most direct way. Auran is probably not a main stream place to go to such as microsoft.com and cogeco isn't one of the larger Internet providers.

I must agree with Andrew on this point John .... although it doesn't happened frequently, I do get the "can't be fund" page .... I've even read other posts where people are having even a tougher time with that.

I think, we should all agree, it's just a dark ugly chapter in Auran history which we are seeing now ... honestly, when was the last time anyone seen or read a post from Tony Hillman?

I haven't, that's clear .... I sometimes wonder if anyone at Auran cares what's going on with their product ... it seems to me that us, the community, who have expressioned their concerns, have more of a worried for Trainz and the DLS future, then does Auran!!

Well, guys, that's just my 2 cents on that!!

Auran Timing out

I'm glad it's not just me,I'm on Virgin Broadband and have FCT.
I find DLS is slow and also keeps resetting connection,no problems with other sites.

No I don't agree, TS2010 is shaping up to be a fine product and that's what I worry about, not the machinations of Auran or the forum.

I'm on Tiscali (now TalkTalk) in the UK and also find the site slow to respond generally.

With regard to the DLS section I'm only using the freebie bit, so expect it to be slow. I want a First Class Ticket but won't be buying one yet as there seems no real advantage from what some people are saying. I'll probably buy one when is sorted. Meanwhile I think I'll save my money.:)

Well just to throw my experience with the site and the DLS.

The forum site seems to cycle but that could be a product of the number of people on. I expect when a hundred or so people are on that sometimes moving pages will be slow and sometimes the forum is lightning fast. You have to take also into account the different routers and lines that you travel through to get to the server and their traffic.

As to the DLS I get very good response I say about 95% of the time. My FCT download speeds are 325 - 375 kps which are very good. I am also with a major supplier Bell Sympatico so no doubt I have large lines available. Now not sure how much throttling they do. I think they have been told to stop doing the throttling. You pay for a fast connection but they slow you down if you use it to much.

That's good, honestly ... I'm proud that it works for you  , however, have you read the problems people are having, lately? ... Your statement varies because every computer is different for everyone in the world ...

I don't have TR2010, as I will wait for the price to drop ... that's me saying to Auran to get your act together, especially with the DLS!!!

Also, you don't think Auran is having financial issues ..? I'm not trying to be mean to you or anyone, because I do believe it's a sad chapter rather anyone believe it or not for Auran! It's an Auran issue, not anyones; And I do hope they resurface strong for 2010, as I am hoping for Trainz online, one day ... At least, Auran gave me a direct answer on that platform recently!!

Generally speaking to all, do some google clicks on Auran, and you will be surprise to read that this company is just lucky to be still floating .. Fury hit the company very hard, now THAT'S A FACT!!

I'm out ... back to the Gmax cave, -- hopefully, one day I can again see the DLS bright light ... right now it's in darkness!!

There have always been complaints about the DLS since its inception. I've had my problems with it, but what I don't see is why the present problems are any worse than the historical ones.

Now like these pass few months ... Back in the days you could see the DLS issues surface one, twice a month! But it's like this everyday, for the past 5+ months ... And that's not a blank statement, that's factual!

The vas majority, who download and upload like myself and other creators that upload in bulks, are just hanging it up due that the issue has been overblown so much that we are all tire of it, at least, I am!! I guess it's because no one at Auran cares to release a statement ... that's what I feel!!

To be truthful, I rather be creating stuff for the great layout masters like Philskene and John Keenan, or Zatovisualworks among others to enjoy in their displays; But I've find myself in the forum expressing my concerns recently. Also, I've already given up on all -- I still create stuff ever single day, but I stored those files in my external HD for, hopefully, a bright day some day in the future.

But, these times, it's not worth it anymore ... If I company doesn't care for their customers concerns, with at least, a statement to ease tensions, then why bother? Hey, maybe it's different 6 months from now, maybe Auran is bought by some other company or by Microsoft:hehe: , who knows; But life does go on, and I'm with that!

I do enjoy creating stuff and releasing such contents for trainz, because if I did not, like those I know in these forums who are in the same boat as I, we would just move on to other games and mod for such games!

I have to side with ish6 on this. For those of us who have had no problems, well kudos to you, but I think YOU are the lucky few. My typical download speeds from other sources is usually between 180 and 220 kb/s, but with DLS it's a pathetic 3.69 to 4!!! Sorry, but I can't see where that is my ISP's fault.

DLS and CMP have become more of a source of anguish and frustration, especially of later. I would say that between 85 and 90% of the assets I have managed to download over the past week have faulty or missing and unknown dependencies, which has made the numerous hours of downloading (which should have taken mere minutes) has been a nearly complete waste of time.

I've even lost count on the number of times that CMP has told me it can't find my serial number and/or profile. And although I am not a creator, I have read MANY posts on uploads that have not been made available on DLS, even what is now weeks past the holiday season.

If Auran is facing challenges, I agree with those who say they owe us an explanation. If they're struggling, are we going to condemn them? In this economy, who ISN'T flailing about? At least if they communicated with their customer base, that would very likely ease off on the number of negative posts. But leaving us in the dark like this....oh boy, does anyone remember Sierra/Dynamix's Front Page Sports series? I am seriously afraid Auran is headed down THAT dark road.

I am on an AT&T (formerly SBC) DSL connection and I have always had problems with the Auran site. For the most part the forum has been resonably fast. The DLS it a completely different matter.

My copy of TRS2006 has NEVER been able to make contact with Planet Auran (the DLS) because I am continually getting the "please wait while I check to see if you're legal" notice that eventually (about 5 minutes) times out and tells me it 'can't connect to Planet Auran'. TRS2004, TRS2009 and TRS2010 can all connect so why can't TRS2006? I haven't a clue.

If I want to put something into '06 I first have to use either the DLS on a browser and FTP it, then install the CDP OR I have to use the TRS2004 content manager and do it that way.

Last night, for about 90 minutes, the DLS worked just fine. I kept hitting the "you have reached 100Mb limit yadda yadda" despite the fact I have a FCT and am getting 350Kb/s downloads. This means I have to exit CMP and restart it - waiting for it to verify I'm legal yet again.

The basic problem as I see it is that there are too few people at Auran to administer what may very well be a really archaic collection of computers hanging in there by their electronic thumbs.

I would be VERY HAPPY to endure not having a DLS for as long as it takes to overhaul the system. While they were at it they could also clean out some of the dead wood on the DLS. By that, I mean items that are clearly marked as being on the DLS (because they show a 'DS' icon) yet, when attempting to download them, I'm told "cannot obtain a URL for this item it is not on the DLS". Howzat again? Not on the DLS? You just TOLD me it was on the DLS.

Trying to patch the DLS system while it is running is a thankless task. I've been there as administrator of a large computer complex and know first hand how hard that is. The only real solution is to take it down (offline) and WORK on it until it is ready for prime time again.

I agree that until the company starts being a lot more open about WHY we are having these problems - not WHO but WHY - then these posts will continue. I see no reason to keep adding to yet another thread about this so I will now just sit back and await what happens.

If its 3-4 kbs then I assume you don't have a first class ticket. It comes in at 350kb to me.
