ATLS Triggers

I have a branchline on my route that has a railroad crossing next to the station at the end of the line. All the railroad crossings on the railroad use the ATLS system to control the railroad crossing signals. I use four triggers for all the crossings on the route. In order to turn locomotives around, the train must uncouple from the train, and go across the crossing to get to the turntable, where it turns around, goes back across the crossing, and couple onto the other end of the train for the return trip. I want to know if you can adjust how close a train has to be to the trigger to 'activate' the ATLS system. Any suggestions?

Try adjusting the ATLS trigger radius from the default 20 to a lower number. You can do this in surveyor/track menu/trackmarks/ pulld-own menu'

Hi,

As Johnny says, drop the radius, down to 1 meter if you like. You will then have to be almost on top of the Trigger before it will react.

HOWEVER..... I am worried that you are uncoupling trains near an ATLS set-up. You must ensure that the whole of the train clears any ATLS set-up BEFORE you uncouple!

ATLS works by keeping track of the trains internal ID number. If you uncouple a train, Trainz will allocate a different ID number to both trains. If your train is in the middle of an ATLS run when you do that, ATLS will not work as its looking for the train ID that entered. Once the train has left the 4th Trigger its no problem as ATLS will then forget that train anyway!

All the best,

You can do it by using the ATLS driver commands. On my ATLS Advanced Demo I place the first trigger on each track before the platform so it wont react on priority 3. This allows the train to enter the station without triggering the crossing. Use the matching ATLS driver command after the uncouple (this counts as one trigger) to trigger the crossing. Also use a wait for 10 or 20 seconds (this is to allow the crossing animation to finish). The engine then passes trigger 2, 3 and 4 to complete the cycle. At some point prior to the train arriving at the first trigger use the change priority command to change it to 3. As already said set radius of the triggers on the crossing to 0.5. When the train returns from the TT you will need to use the ATLS command again before it couples. Once train has left station and passed the last trigger reset priority to 2.

I was able to get it to work by setting the first trigger to 5.0 Meters after some trial and error. So far, so good.
