ATLS and TRC

I've just learned of the existence of TRC, and I would like to use it on my route instead of ATLS for its ability to deal with trains stopping and reversing. Is there any way I could use it with ATLS compatible assets? I want to use the JR crossing gantries (ATLS) with TRC gates, but I don't know if this is practical or even possible. Any help would be appreciated.

In short, no. I don't think that you can use ATLS crossing gates or anything with the TRC system unless it has that kind of functionality built into it. I tried using the TRC system already, but I was using the older version by accident. Also, there are VERY few crossing gates, etc, for the TRC system. I personally chose to stay with the ATLS system. You can make manually operated crossings with the ATLS system. All you need is invisible track, make a switch and add an invisible train, no ATLS system components necessary.

 When you get your Crossing system up and running could you post some pics on how it hooked up......:o.I quite green on Crossing Systems.

I'm trying to use TRC on Cumberland to Connersville Update TANE but the RR crossings keep messing up on me when I drive through the crossing and the rr crossing gates keep going up and down and I can't figure out why

The triggers should be as close to the crossing as possible and use one trigger per crossing even if bidirectional running. As for the rr crossing gates going up and down may be caused by a slow moving train that slows down and then speeds up.

I just tested one of BNSF50's crossings (specifically <kuid2:39134:101598:3> Grade Xing US Inc. 2L 2T) with TRC and it stopped traffic and the gates went down, but the lights and bells were not functional. This is my first attempt switching to TRC, but it is fairly easy to use and I do like that I don't need to place a ton of triggers for bi-directional running on multiple tracks. I also checked the Crossing Plate (without lights) and it too functioned however they release the traffic early just as they did with ATLS (ie, the cars would run through the barriers as they are going up, which the TRC traffic stoppers also resolve). As was mentioned by someone above, my gripe is the lack of variety available for gates/lights etc. I am also modeling a proto route in which the primary railroad uses flashing lights on their cabinets to help indicate to train crews that the crossings are active (rusty-rail rules require that the crew can verify the crossing is active at least 20s before entering the crossing or they have to stop and flag). While this is not really a requirement within Trainz I like the concept and had been using "<kuid:39134:100361> Relay Control Box 2 With Operating Red Beacon" at most of the crossings, these also will not function natively with TRC.

I don't know if the original creator of the TRC system is reading this thread, nor do I know what his licensing on the scripting is, but would it be possible for someone to create a Slave object similar to the ATLS slave that could act as an interface between the TRC triggers and the scripted items that have invisible rail connections for ATLS but otherwise will not work with TRC? (I don't know what this entails, just something I thought about tonight while playing around and I happened to find this thread.)

The ATLS traffic stoppers can be delayed on opening via the slave set up. You can also set up the ATLS to delay the closing of the barrier on the exit side of the crossing allowing cars to clear before it closes.

I'm aware of that. And for the more complicated crossings on my routes I do have multiple slaves on the same channel to do this with delays and such. In my many projects that I never quite end up completing I tend to have some rather complicated setups and still plan to use ATLS for these more intricate designs, but when my route has near 100 crossings that are rather plain I think TRC will end up working better for the majority of them so I don't have over 500 triggers (many are two tracks, with 4 triggers per track it starts to get overwhelming), but trying to be as realistic as possible means I don't like being limited to the few options available for the TRC crossings, so I was curious if a slave that could interface between TRC and the ATLS style items (like the many NRC items by BNSF50) would be possible, that's all.
