Asset with faulty dependencies

In CM I have a few assets now showing faulty dependencies, on checking for errors or warnings it shows no problems. Also if you check the dependencies none are faulty. I have run the data base repair and nothing as changed.

You will get this error if you are trying to use a item that is designed for TS12 SP4 HF1 in a pre HF1 version of trainz TS12 = TS12 SP4 HF1 should almost be named as TS13

That's for you reply. I have not installed any thing the problem just started, it's affecting both built in and downloaded content. My build is T12 61388.

Did check all the assets and there build number was the same as or lower the 3.7. Checked my installation of Trainz 2010 and the same problem on there, now considering that I have not used 2010 for months I'm wondering how I could have the problem on 2 separate programs. Went to uninstall 2012 and was unable to as the uninstaller was corrupt and the same with 2010. I have managed to remove both programs and reinstalled 2012, and in the process of adding the patches but everything seems fine at the moment. Last weekend there was a problem with updates, one minute there was 300+ but wouldn't down load. Then the number dropped then went up again and at one stage it was reporting over 1000 so didn't bother. On Monday there was no updates, but yesterday I had the problem I listed above. Just wondering if the 2 were related.

My way of getting around the problems caused by the update flood was to uninstall all Trainz.
I then installed 2010 from the disks and patched to the highest level. Then I DID NOT connect to the internet. Also I didn't copy over the user folder. I am using assets I have stored and repaired over the years to work with my machines.
Next I did another install and disabled all the content and connected this to the internet.
When I need to download I do it with the second install, that way I only get updates showing for the asset I am downloading.
I then "Save to cdp" and import into my isolated 2010. After doing this ,no more validating and Tad Daemon is kept busy trying to connect to the internet and leaves all else alone.
The other thing I found was that the heap of updates that show red in CM will download 99% of the time through the Download Station button at the top of the forum page.
I am also considering doing the same with TS12. I don't think it will work with SP1 though as this seems to need the internet connection to work properly.
Cheers,
Mike

The two issues maybe related. TS2010 will have a fit trying to install TS12 assets because of the version issue as you know. The updates in TS12 were out of synch, which caused database issues for everyone. In the end I waited out the mess and confusion and then attempted to download. There were all kinds of issues up on the DLS with some content there, but unavailable, some updates there, but missing dependencies, etc. I then had a ton of assets that couldn't be connected to so I ran a QDR overnight and attempted the updates the next day. Everything was fine then and I've had no problems since.

The uninstall gets broken due to the patch installer. The file uninstall.dat or uninstall.inf contains a list of the files installed for the program. The uninstall.exe reads this file and then knows which ones to remove. If the patch installer didn't update the uninstall.dat, then uninstall.exe will fail.

This isn't N3V's fault and is due to their installation package creator. In the past I supported an engineering group that had issues and we couldn't figure out what was happening. It turned out to be Vice which creates the .exe installer. The problem wasn't related to the PC either as the Mac packages had the same issue at the time.
