Article: Trainz + Kickstarter - One week until launch

See you there next Wednesday. Curious what the 25 other features are. Is it a fixed list or have you added at least one "other" category for write-in votes?

Hopefully one of those is a custom installer that gives me the option to not clog my HDD with 6gig of useless junk I don't want or need.

I'd sure like a peak at the list of 25 so I can start thinking about were to spend my untold wealth . . .

Feel free to guess at what is on the list. It is so comprehensive that we dare not release it before the 13th. People may be overcome with emotion and keel over ;)

Just for fun, here's a teaser to keep a number of people (including Vern) happy..

#9. Prototypical timetabling/scheduling system.

(order not indicative of anything).

Ok. We now have all the current details in one place (I seem to remember asking for that a few days ago - so thank you). Only new snippets I could see amongst it were that there is now 25 possible future developments in line and #9 is Prototypical timetabling/scheduling system. (Hope I didn't miss anything when I read through :) )
As #9 is now a known future advancement - would someone like to put it in laymans terms please? I have an idea of what I think it means but would like to be certain - and more importantly how it would be implemented. :)

Hello Tony.
Already i was looking forward to a new graphics engine, count on my support team and financial spaintrainzrutas. It is a pleasure to have something new after so much time claimed, I believe that it was time for the change.

Take care.

I really wanted to pledge to this project, but when I found out that PayPal is not supported, and Amazon Payments requires me to insert information from credit card, which frankly I can't do it, then I'm afraid I have to skip this out.

How does one pledge, by a major credit card only ? As PayPal is not accepted ?

When is the payment needed to be in by ? Is there an expiration date of payment ?

And is $5 the minimum ?

What is the maximum amount pledged, in order to get a gauranteed free game when kickstarter is finished ?

If the reward bonus is: between an honorable mention, whoop de doo, atta boy, gold star, next to your screen name ... and a free game (which is not even guaranteed, and you probably won't even get a free game even if you pledge $150).

Tony's already promised rain/snow free tunnels and smoke being retained and billowing under bridges.

What else do you have in mind? (A smaller dig hole would be good!)
I'm thinking of a default system where the angle is not restricted, and where the portals are not immovable large blocks which have to be hidden by the terrain.

Agreed - both really good calls.

Hiding the gaps with hard to construct scenery/assets/foliage is both time wasting and difficult to make convincing without a great deal of work. I'd forgotten just how long it takes.

Not being able to get prototypical portal angles is a real pain, which then distorts the internal line of the tunnel making it impossible to emulate reality.

I would pledge $39.95, if it was guaranteed that if, and when, TS14 Kickstarter was finished, that I would get a free copy of the game (but unfortunately this is not so) ?

What incentive is it, to invest money into the development of a game, when you will only have to go out and buy the game anyway, with even more cash out of your pocket ?

If you advance me $5.99 now ... I will bring you a Wendy's hamburger 1 1/2 years from now, and then you can pay me another $5.99.

Why is that some are so keen to tell us what they are or are not going to do, without even knowing as yet what is on offer? Wait and see is my sage (and onion) advice.

Is it just me or would anybody else appreciate a way to be able to work on one computer and continue working on it on the go with a tablet or portable of some sort? Often times I think of something that I missed when I'm in the building phase of any layout while waiting for someone or something and wish there was a way to make the changes before I lost inspiration or the idea altogether. This would also help minimize the late nights (in some cases all nighters) :hehe:

My real love is building the scenery and developing town-scapes. My very best hope would be for a much more subtle method of adjusting height levels for the terrain without that current drain on resources. I also like to have a bit of snow floating down so I would like the weather feature to handle snowfall and snow landing more realistically.

My real point in dropping in these little personal requests is that I believe that you don't ever get something for nothing so I will be contributing once I see how things develop.

The only real issue is how much. I don't smoke, drink or gamble so I'm thinking that between £50 and £100 might be a good starting point to give myself a bit of ownership and pride in being in at the outset on this extremely exciting project.

Hi cascaderailroad,

I can even advance you $10 or $15 now and the same in 1,5 years if you bring me that Wendy's burger as I miss those.

Trouble is, I live in Norway so the trip will cost a little more, but as you say, I give you a certain amount now, and same next time, so, for me, it is still a great deal - let me know the payment details please. :p

And, yes, I know, it is a off topic bad joke here, but I felt it was funny to me, and saw no harm to anybody, as for me, it would be good value either way - so it is often a matter of point of view.

Unless there is a drastic shift in the way TANE is setup to work on my computer - as worst case seen pointed out in the DRM thread - and I no longer can use Trainz on a local computer off the Internet and install it and use it when I am real old in 50 years from now if my next year brand new computer still works, then I doubt I spend more time with new Trainz, but I still would enjoy the Trainz I have up till that, and just hoping the new one will be just as versatile as the ones I seen so far.

I spent far more money on my Cripple Creek Research / Collecting, then I ever did on Trainz and computer for it, so Trainz actually been a good investment so far for me personally!
So, I look forward to the Trainz future, hopefully it will let me be on board the journey!

As a non native speaker, I hate the word pledge, so I avoid that word (to many movies with bad stuff associated with that word and school situations..), and I will not promise any amount, just take it from the state of finances the day it is actual to donate the money and the levels I can choose from and see what temps me most.

Let TANE be a new start and bring enjoyment back into the game to "lure me back" (:hehe:) to create for it - my view, I really feel there could be better tools from the makers of this program to help with some of the finer ways of creating stuff that is not a train it self...
