Article: Trainz: A New Era Pre-Order Site now open

Hi Andi. Due to our limited testing resources, your route along with several others currently in development will be processed and tested as soon as resources become available then released as DLC routes.

I have reviewed your route and it has fantastic potential. Inner city routes are under-represented in Trainz and I am keen to ensure your route gets top exposure when it is ready for release

Is there a ETA on the TANE Arrival and a Final Price when it is Released as the Most Basic Version

I pre-ordered mine, I am excited to see how the USRA Light pacific looks, and the other stuff that was announced that is featured in Trainz a new era.

I have a few questions about the new TANE:

Have you solved the "left is Best" problem with US and other right handed train routes?

Does the new version solve the iPortal problem when a user wants to send to himself?

Will all those animated graphics require a super game machine to run?

What ARE the requirements to run TANE?

In terms of the requirements, use the link in the main part of the announcement.

The base version of T:ANE is really only going to come with four routes? TS12 had like 10...

Also...
1GB OF VRAM? This is a HUGE bump from current Trainz, which runs fine with 256MB of VRAM on my laptop.

The problem with the current version of Trainz, as we have been told thousands of times, is that the graphics are dated and 10 years old. You simply don't get "next-gen" graphics on old tech.

We're happy that with TANE we are offering the best version of Trainz ever and at a price we think is great value. It's then left up to each consumer whether they want to purchase the product or not. If we've got it wrong, then we won't sell many copies. Current pre-orders indicate that there are plenty of people keen to get involved in the next generation of train-sim, and we're working as hard as we can to ensure we deliver on our promises.

"Why does the Mac version list DirectX11 as a prerequisite?" - probably an oversight - thanks :)

Tony, it seems that TANE will feature HDR rendering, which is great, but can I hope there is an option to reduce the effect or turn it off.
Can this please be added? Thanks.

To be fair Tony (and the point still awaits a response on the main forum) is that I and I'm sure some others found the presentation of what's in each version a little confusing. When I ordered the standard version I was convinced - obviously wrongly as it turned out - that included all seven routes. Apparently it doesn't. Now 4 routes is not really very much for a flagship new release, particularly when one (KS County) is a rework of an existing Trainz model railway style route and Kings Cross to Edinburgh, while magnificent in length and scope, inevitably brings over the baggage it had attached in TS12 and whether it has received much of a makeover.

So how many other pre-orders are based on a similar misconception, particularly as there is no cancel button to change our minds or maybe upgrade?

Hence my appeal that you at least think about porting two or three of the existing TS12 routes (maybe Mojave, the Russian and Chinese ones) into TANE in order to round the product out a bit. This will also go some way to addressing the other issue of how TS12 owners are going to get default assets from that version into the new one.

Ermm......... adding any more might put it out of reach for many people with Data limits to download, it's a 15GB download already unless that's a typo................. As I asked in another thread can someone from N3V clarify the download size?

If I remember correctly from the KS, can't find it at the moment but the predicted retail cost of the then Standard version was I believe around $89 and the driver version without surveyor considerably less. That roughly equates to what's happened with the pre-orders ignoring the discounts. Of course nothing was actually written in concrete, those who pledged are now getting more "Rewards" than what they actually pledged for which I guess for them is fine.

However including Surveyor with what was originally the Driver only version has totally confused the issue for those who were not following the KS and it seems some who were. Trainz Deluxe now seemingly being the equivalent of the Full Trainz as promoted in the KS and Trainz the equivalent of Trainz Driver with a bit added in the form of surveyor but with less routes to keep the cost the same.

That doesn't really answer my question? If the engine is should be more "optimized", why does the vRAM requirement increase?
