Article: Trainz: A New Era Community Edition v1.2 is Now Available

When I try to unzip the files. Win-zip says that all the .bin files are broken. I have tried re-downloading, but it makes no difference.

Hi Tony, Over here in Australia I'm using the Dallas server and the fastest download with my Firewall switched off is 1.01Mb/Sec. I started at 10.00pm (Aussie EST) last night and three times it has stalled on me so I've had to resume and there is still only 48% completed. At this rate, it could be another 12 hours or more to complete the download. I know it's a big file but is there a faster server that this one? I have an unlimited internet connection so this is not a problem at my end.

I have downloaded and unzipped the T:ANE CE V1.2 but only the .bin files appear in the destination folder. My Norton antivirus thinks that there is a virus in the setup.exe file and deletes it as soon as the unzip completes. The Norton message is "setup.exe contained threat SAPE.Heur5b67". I downloaded the T:ANE file from the San Jose server.

Should I try another server? Shut off Norton and hope that the T:ANE file is actually clean?

Got 1.2 to install but there are 208 faulty assets. I have run the database repair 6 times, but it does not help. About to try re-installing.

Hello. I just tried to install the new Version (after uninstalling the old one) but now the Installation is stuck on the "License Agreement". "Next" is greyed out and I cannot continue. Any hints for that? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.

You should have an option to accept the agreement near the bottom - you may have to drag the window around to find it though.

Shane

Yes - I did accept it, but that was the Screen before. Then it goes to the next Screen "Trainz: A New Era License Agreement and N3V Content..." and there the "Next" button is greyed out. I do use a 4K Monitor but even if I Change the Resolution to 1280x1024 there is nothing to click on the second Screen.

That's strange - I've just had a look on my copy of the installer and there is an accept option available on both screens. I would suggest a re-download.

Thanks for this AptivaUser. I spent most of yesterday trying to install without realising my Norton's Antivirus was doing the same thing but without warning me it was deleting setup.exe.

Hello Shane, Problem solved. It was not the download, but it is the Screen Scaling which was on 150 % instead of the usual 100 %. This is because of the 4K Resolution of the Monitor. After I put it back to 100 % I could see and confirm the second Screen. So this might be something to fix for the developers so it will automatically adjust to different Screen resolutions and scaling Settings. All fine now, Thanks!

Good to see you've sorted that issue, however I don't think it's something N3V can fix, as they use a third party installation tool. However, I may well suggest it to the people who make said installation tool.

Hmmm GTAV is out in 4 days, do I pre-order that??? .....(check my emails) Ohh.... new deal on TANE. Excellent. TANE purchased.

T:ANE DOWNLOAD

A further update: After the Dallas download completed, the program installed, I adjusted the Settings, tried to gain access to the 'Tutorials' and then everything froze-up. I waited 30 minutes to see if it might clear but no luck. I had to Ctrl-Alt-Delete then shut down and re-started. The same thing happened again.
I then Un-installed every T:ANE file and this time I used the San Jose server to download it again. This was much faster and it completed the download in 2 hours 50 mins. I was then able to access the Tutorial and completed one item, then skipped to Start T:ANE game. The list of 4 Routes showed up, but another Page popped up suggesting I download all the Beta files for the Test Track (which I wasn't really interested in anyway) In trying to cancel this page, everything froze-up on me, changing the Resolution of my computer to a very large display. If I need to download all the Beta files as well, I guess I should go down that path.
This method of installation is not easy.
I'm now thinking I may be better to wait until my boxed set arrives instead, hoping that all will be sorted out by then.
Cheers, Roy3b3

An Update: It's important to download the 'Beta Files' because they happen to be additional Routes. I'll see what happens after the downloads are completed.

When can those of us with the Steam edition get this new update?

That would be some point over the next week or two I'd guess, as N3V don't have any direct control over Steam updates in this instance - they are working with Koch Media on that front.

I have download version 1.2 from Amsterdam and from London. Both downloads have a setup.exe that Norton say is infected with a virus.
The Norton message is : setup.exe contained threat SAPE.Heur5b67

Conclusion . . . I wil not install version 1.2 because the nature of the virus detected is serious (be sure of that).

I will wait for a version with a setup.exe without this risk.

Welcome to the forums.

As I've explained to others on this forum, Norton is prone to giving false positives such as this - I'm not aware of anything being reported from any other antivirus programs on here.

Downloaded and installed without incident. I use WINRAR to unzip the files. I just expand everything to my Desktop and then Click on the exe File and Run as Administrator. It does take some time for the Installation as the instructions tell you. I don't use Norton because it always gave false positives. I went to PCMATIC and have had no issues.

I know exactly what you mean about Norton - I've had to create a thread regarding that software in the Trainz: A New Era + Kickstarter forum to advise Norton users that it's Norton that's causing them problems with unzipping the latest build.

This has come up several times with previous beta releases. I use Trend Micro Maximum Security and it believes the file is OK. Your decision though.
