Anyone tried running TS12 on Ubuntu 14.04 with Wine?

Hi;
I am now running Ubuntu Linux 14.04 on a dual-boot with Windows 7 Ultimate where I have TS12 installed. I'm curious as to whether or not anyone has ever attempted to run TS12 on Ubuntu 14.04 with the Wine compatability layer installed.
I will eventually get around to trying it myself, but it might be a while.

I can't think of anyone offhand, however, the problem you'll run into though will be video drivers unless you can get the Open/GL to work properly, I think. Then again, you may also run into performance issues because everything is emulated rather than native. This puts that extra layer between the OS and the programs, making things a bit heavy.

I do know that TRS2006 and earlier are able to run in this fashion.

Good luck and give it a try. Make sure you have backed up things..

Wine uses the Linux Drivers direct, just need to make sure that hardware acceleration is enabled in Linux.

2010 is the last version I had running in Linux in both Mandriva and PCLinuxOS 32 bit, Game ran fine in OpenGL actually far better than OpenGL or DirectX in Windows, Content Manager was a no go though. TS12 needs .net for CM probably why CM failed in 2010, You can actually add .net to Wine now, Google it as you may have to get rid of or disable mono first.

If you have dual boot just mount the Windows Drive or Drive you have TS12 on and set it up to run with Wine and try it.

Update:
I was able to install TS12 on Ubuntu 14.04.2 with Wine, but when I tried to run TS12, the system check failed at video driver. I am using an an NVidia driver, not the Nouveau driver. Since I have Windows 7 on the same machine, I decided to abandon attempts to run TS on Linux (for now).
I will be switching to T-ANE as soon as the retail version is released. I will still be using TS12 to create prototype routes from dem's using Transdem though - until there is a new version of TransDem that supports T-ANE.

Well it was a good attempt. I had a feeling that would happen...

Regarding TransDEM. The current version of TransDEM will create TS12 compatible routes which can be imported into T:ANE. There's no need to wait. The moment I found some odd lighting issues with one of the beta versions, can't remember which one now, but I was able to adjust the lighting in the environment by setting the values to default. I imported a 64 mile stretch from Brunswick, Maine to Rockland plus the stretches to Livermore Falls and Unionville plus the surrounding landscape.
