Anyone own an E-Type Jaguar?

Looks like Lucas, the Prince of Darkness, was hired to do your texturing there, Dean. I used to own a V12 E-type coupe, but I don't have any pictures to offer you.

I'm sure you have heard the old story about Jaguars - The two best days in a Jaguar owners life are the the day he buys it and the day he sells it. It's a true story...trust me on this.

Having owned a MkII & a 420G, I can assure you that story is total bunkum. :D

Okay Deane, good news. I talked to my mom, and she says that she has at least a front and side picture of it, and maybe a back picture. It will be a few days until she is back at the shop to send them to me. Also, the guy lives in the same town as the shop, so she might be able to get more pics, but she cannot promise anything.

 Deane
If you are useing Gmax i'll send a copy over for you to play with and release when you are happy waiting for me to release it ( could be never ) :hehe:

Oh Son would like to know if he sends pic's can you do his rust bucket for Trainz ? ? he don't like my Sport's cars :(

Let me digest this one first. But in the meantime, send me the pics of your son's rust bucket and I can at leat take a look. My e-mail should be in the config file of any of my DLS assets.

Hi,

Strangely, most of the ones I remember were the Ferrari Red.... (OK, Jaguar called it a different colour!)

As Mike says, there was the original 2 seater, then the 2+2 (higher roofline & upholstered shelf behind the front seats for a couple of midgets (poeple - not the cars!).

the 2+2 (IMO) spoilt the roofline & body line for very little benefit (the windscreen was taller and more vertical - the roof line - such as it was - too high.)

The hardtop (as per JohnK) was a different bodyshape.

IIRC the bonnet was one piece - yes - all of it! That makes the modelling difficult because it's all curves that blend one into another....

Colin

Totally agree with your sentiments. I had the feeling the hardtop shown in the Jalopnik.com pics was a 2 seater, the high roof on my rendition may just be my crap modelling at this stage. I certainly just want to do the 2 seater.

Excellent Alex. You know my e-mail, so when you're ready...

A hardtop, like the one on the jalopnik site in my first post.

Thanks guys for the many responses so far.

No this is for you lol, you need to convert it :P This comes from Test Drive Unlimited for pc. I can also get you the files if need be. These are just screenshots for you to work on.

This is probably unconvertable without the original mesh. Don't feel bad Deane, it was made by a professional game studio. Your cars are still some of the best in the game.

Actually, I would prefer to have yours, I like photoskinning on them. It makes them look less 3D.

Wow, keep going with that.

My attempt so far is 800 polys, no wheels added yet. But it looks like crap in so many ways. The images from different pictures just don't go together seamlessly. I'm almost a shamed to reveal this, but just want to show you what strife I'm having.
It's a bit Dali-esque, isn't it? Fried Jag on a plate without a plate! Actually it's kind of cool to see one you haven't finished yet. Kind of gives the rest of us Gmax noobs and Gmax virgins a taste of reality.

Another Jaguar joke was that they came in pairs - one you drove while the other was in the shop! And the joke about the electrics of many English cars - Why do the English drink warm beer? Because the refrigerators are made by Lucas!

Well at least they are only jokes. You should read the British motoring press's view and J D Powers surveys of the build quality of the Chryslers etc. that are imported here. Perhaps you dump your duds on us. :)

Nah, we keep the duds here too... the UCU on my Jeep crapped out after less than 7000 miles and cost $600 to replace, plus labor. At least they gave me a discount for low milage. :D
