I'm all for it, but it will drive away from the forums, that's what I think moderators would talk about.

Sure, I'll do that. I'm in for watching kids whine and moan because their screenies were rejected for poor aesthetic quality :hehe:

And just who decides what "The Best Screenshots" are?

Seriously, this can only serve to further divide the community. Perhaps a better idea would be to expand the SSOTW, or a new Moderator restricted Thread in the existing Screenshots section of these forums..??..??..but still, who decides which ones are "Best".

As far as you posting other peoples screenshots already, without permission...well that's just bass ackwards...you ask first, then publish...screen captures are Intellectual Property you know. (especially the ones with post-processing.)
 
Let's stick with my original idea of Screenshot of the Month, which I posted in the current SSOTW thread. :)

It is a rather good idea. It works on British Trainz Online, Trainz users vote for their favourite. It doesn't do any 'dividing' there. All it does is get the creative juices flowing.

I agree though, don't post other peoples screenshots without asking them first. I'd remove them if I were you...

That's an irrelevant comparison. The reason it's so amicable is due to the very low numbers of people a) submitting pictures and b) voting for them.

So you're saying on the Trainz forum, with a lot more people than BTO, there'd be a higher chance of provocation and arguments?

If so, then fair enough I do agree with you...

Hi Jack, By dividing the Community, I was referring to having another Web Site to visit, rather than just have it hosted here. I was not referring to people disagreeing over "what is best".

Ahh I see, apologies for the misunderstanding! :) if we were to have a Screenshots poll on here I don't think it would have many negative effects, if any. I think it would be rather interesting to be able to flick through and see shots from all over the world right next to each other, something you don't really see, however I do agree with you that it should be hosted on this site, assuming N3V are interested...:o
