Anyone have an Allegheny?

There goes a...train!
Hi,
I like the massive C&O 2-6-6-6 Allegheny Steam Loco and I was wondering, has anyone made a freeware one for Trainz?
Thanks,
wridenour:)

AN ALLEGHENY!!! I'd love to have something like that running around on some of the routes. Super powerful, ultra unique, and extraordinarily heavy. The allegheny is the mac truck and the bigboy is the tiny mosquito. I wonder why UP chose the bigboy over the allegheny.

American Connections,
No, I don't but you could try searching on some railroad photo site. Of course theres always the "real" one (two acually) here at the B&O railroad museum in my home town of Baltimore, Maryland, but...since you live in Romania, thats probably too far to travel.

Info

From what I have found, the loco is heavier than the bigboy, yet shorter, so this will mean the boiler tank (body) will be bigger around than the bigboy? Would be nice to find a G-max map to compare too if ya'll know where I can find one!

Inca o data

If there is already one, why I should do again? Just to be for free? His looks good even is not a lot of detail. Maybe I should just do the Challenger I wanted to do in the first place, seems as no one has done this yet from what I see.

That Alleghney looks good? ...... I think if someone did a new one it'd look a bit better. When was that one made? Service Pack 3?

There are a couple of challengers that are finished, but they're all payware on Trainzitalia.com. I think someone on East Coast trainz is making a freeware challenger, though it might be payware. Not sure. It looks very good already, and it's still in the color-coded stage.

i just bought diagrams of a Allegheny. i might do one if i find time. I'm working on a C&O j-3a now so i'll be able to scrap a lot of parts when finished.

EDIT: American_connections want me to send u the diagrams i bought? i just noticed u said u wanted to make it.

OK, Seems alot of interest in this, I will continue my research and yes, you diagram will help. We all can do better, there is an sayin I learn in the military: T.E.A.M. = togeather everyone achieves more.

Not us, try SteamTrainz. I only believe in Southeastern US steam.:hehe: If I did a Challenger it'd be a Clinchfield.

We don't believe in payware at ECT.:hehe:

You might try this place www.chessieshop.com they have thousands of blueprints of all kinds of steam & diesel locomotives, boxcars, maps just about anything you want. It is C&O Historical Society here in Clifton Forge Va. The "George Washington Afghan" is not a bad looking engine, wouldn't mine having one on the PO&N route. Contact them have them send you a copy of their catalog.

Size matters

As women know! Ha Ha:hehe:
Need some advise. As best I can find the allegheny has a bigger boiler than the BigBoy, I see is longer. But the height and width have to be the same, right?

American Connections: Why would that be? C&O may have had a different loading guage that UP, but even so, the boiler could be a few inches wider or narrower. Even an inch wider would increase capacity quite a bit. A few inches narrower may reduce capacity but the extra length and or slightly smaller tubes would easily compensate.

SR6900: Are you aware that your signature graphic is nearly double the maximum size permitted by the Code of Conduct. For those of us on slower connections any chance you can fix it before the signature police nab you?

It's currently 55kb (max 30) but when I saved it with Irfanview at 70% it came to 12kb. That's all it needs to be. Thanks.

Progress vs: ?

I gettin alittle there, but every diagram ios different. I watch 1601 on U-Tube and try to match. Also, other conntent is not so exact to dimentions, everyone has a different gage. My engine config will be very slow to act as the real thing and after getting one side of my bdrivers bogey to work right in game, I see that I am completely wrong! back to the drawin board! This is not so eazy as makin a troad truck! I see why everyone wants to get paid for makin these things!! To get the wheels to stay on the track, it has to be two parts, but i like this as I do not think about the house fire and all I lost so much! Soon I'll send in a picture. Pa.....
