I am From Brooklyn, NY I created a LIRR System and Made a Bilevel Trainset out of Connys Bilevel cars and the MN P32cdm

Hey guys, I searched around but couldn't find any specific thread about people in the New York and Long Island area, so here we go. Anyone out there from New York or Long Island?

I feel like I'm the only LIRR creator..;)

Dietrich :)

Lived in W. Babylon, Smithtown, Sayville, New Hide Park, Patchogua, Port Jefferson, and a few other places, but was born in Brooklyn. Now out in NV out side of LV, and back when the first Trainz came out was going to do the LIRR, but bit off more than I could choo. ;)

I've since taken a break from working on it, but since your stomping grounds include Port Jefferson, this might look a bit familiar to you.. ;)

Yes it does, I once fell a sleep going to Kings Park, and woke up in the middle of the night on the last train out in Port Jeff, had to walk back, what a drag that was.

Great reproduction of the town, the farries to Conn, was a few miles down hill from there in the main part of the town it's self.

Now that's a story if I've heard one, walking from Port Jefferson all the way out to Kings Park can't be too fun. If I may ask, what era of the railroad would your time there have been? While the GP38-2s, MP15ACs, and FA powerpacks might be the first motive power I recal, that might very well be different for you.

This would have been in the early 60s, I was in the Navy and home on leave. Took me like over 6 hours to do it, it was morning by the time I got home. Don't remember what the motor power for the locos was back then. Lucky if I remember what happened yesterday.

Around here from NY

Hi and I am from Brooklyn NY about 5 minutes from the VZ Bridge and I when on the LIRR a few times. Back again with a new computer Mario:)

Very nice, quite the accomplishment at that. I'd assume the motive power to be in the Alco era, I'm a big fan of the steam era with G5s', H10s', etc. as well. Out of curiousity, do you know of any of the Long Island Railroad-specific forums? Some great historical and current information on them if you're interested. lirr.thermomods.com if a favorite of mine if you'd like to check it out.

Greetings.
I see this thread is almost a year old but I'll post anyway. I'm an asipiring beginner from Bellport, Long Island, NY.
Merry Christmas to all. Jim

Hey everybody! I live in Rhinebeck. I railfan in Kingston for the most part but sometimes dad and I will go to Selkirk, and during the summer since the family has a little cottage RIGHT on Lake Champlain and RIGHT next to the ex-D&H Bridge Line, I get alot of fanning in there. Albeit the low traffic...

Hey Dietrich hows it going. I just bought TS2010. I live on Long Island. Dix Hills to be exact. I'm a fan of the Ny&a's gp38s. About 4 months ago I was walking through pilgrim state and found a hidden abandoned spur line. i followed it to the LIRR mainline, I believe Ronkonkoma branch. I did a bunch of research about railroads on long island and found that from 1870-present there were about 20 different railroads on Long Island. Of course the only two left are the NY&A & LIRR.

But yeah i'm a railfan and its cool to see someone else appreciate the LIRR and NY&A.
