Anyone able to help...

Hi,
Does anyone know if there are any British steeplecab electric locos out there or being made?
Sort of like this:

Or this:

I would like to know as I am thinking of doing an electrified industrial shunting module, but there's no point if there are no suitable locos!

The engine on the first BW image looks very much like some freelance models that are around on the DLS, but those are American.

It's an interesting engine I'd say. I immediately noticed the third rail shoes on the bogeys. Was this one in use by London Transport or where there other locations where third rail power was used in Great Brittan?

Not sure if it will help any but the only loco I have seen that resembles it is the Auran Krokodil in TS10.
Perhaps you can use some of it somewhere.

Theres one somewhere on my computer, which makes me think, I need to finish it. Do you have any research material that shows a lot of the details? This was a problem I had which is why I pretty much stopped half way through.
The loco in the second picture is Spondon Power Station No.1.
Here is a bigger picture, hopefully showing some more of the details:

I would love to see it in Trainz once complete.

That loco is a BR (Ex-NER) ES.1 locomotive, used on the Newcastle Quayside Branch. I have actually modelled that line for Trainz, and it is on the DLS. I have reskinned one of the American steeplecabs to resemble the ES.1s:

However, it was only intended as a place-holder until someone made a better one.

Thanks for the help, but it is a tad big for what I had in mind!

Third rail is commonly found in the south of England (between Dover and Weymouth!) and on the Liverpool system, also termed the "Merseyrail system". There used to be a 3rd rail electrified line around Newcastle where the locomotives were based and the Manchester to Bury line was also electrified. London Underground uses a 4th rail, to which one rail is used as the return (negative rail), which on lines where 3rd rail stock operate, e.g. parts of London Overground and parts of the District line, the 4th rail is bonded to the running rails. Why 4th rail? Reduces elecroylitcal damage to metal structures that can disintergate.

Interesting, I knew about the fourth negative rail in the center on the London Underground trackwork, but I wasn't aware of the reason for it.

Btw the image this started with looks very much like a LU Westinghouse electric engine I've seen a picture of in a book I acquired long time ago when visiting London in the seventies. ;)
