Any tips to get Special line side camera to work?

I placed a special camera on a ridge over the rail line to give a view as the player train (the only consist) runs around a sharp bend and into a snow shed. But the view wont play.

do i need to add a cimematic camera rule for it? or a trigger that is linked to it? and is there a way to indicate on the track how long that camera controls the view? i dont want it forever just while the train enters and navigates the curve...

thanks for tips. i get confused still if i need drive commands or rules for this stuff.

thanks

Chris

How far away is the camera placed from where the train is running? The cameras have to be within a certain range of the train for them to actually activate.

Chris,
If you happen to be using Cinematic Camera, this is generaly used in setting up the opening of your Session; and not the 'Trackside Camera' which you would use at various places positioned along the track.

Trackside Camera's are placed by using the 'Tools' menu / Place Camera / Move Camera / Delete Camera. You also have the choice of a 'static' or 'tracking' camera.

Cheers,
Roy

hi and thanks both of you sorry for slow reply been very busy with release.

I knew there was a distance limit but was hoping i was inside of it as i am up on a ridge almost right up from the track. hope so

so cinematic is for start ok i will try the other and yes i already placed the camera so i had figured that out Roy thanks

thanks for the replies i didnt know if we had to use a trigger for the lineside camera but i guess not maybe

There are several camera guides that help place cameras within a certain distance from one another, I think 600m max ... if you place a static camera, it may foul up all other rotating tracking cameras, and if you place too many cameras too close together, there may be a rapid flickering, switching back and forth, of cameras

I place a camera way down low, close to the rail ... then I tap the arrow KB keys @ 4 times, to raise the camera ever so slightly, and back it away from the tracks ever so slightly ... it is @ 10m raised, and @ 20m distant the tracks, when looking straight down from directly above
