Andi06 Junctions

Hi all,
Been using these junctions and have to say they are excellent. Put new life into Trainz for me and my hat is of to the creator. Very well done and a big thank you for putting them together.

But, when driving over them, the locomotive jumps around like its going to fly off the rails. I've noticed this on all junctions except the Wye. That is nice and smooth. I lay everything the same way so I'm wondering if its the junctions themselves or something I'm doing wrong. Been through a forum search and the tutorials and such on Andi's site.

For what its worth I'm using MP Wood from the Marias Pass route from Trainz Driver in TC1&2. Other than the jumping a very nice addition that improves the look of track work 100%. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave..........

I think you must be putting the invisible track in wrong Dave. The junctions themselves are simple scenery objects, the trainz run on the 'wires' and done right they are smooth as any other track....

Hi Sparky15
Getting these smooth can be done. I used these extensively in my Piccadilly and Crewe routes. There is an edit mode where you should be able to see a red diamond. If you align the junction divergence point exactly on top of this then the running should be smooth as.
Cheers

Once you have placed the junction object and completed it with the invisible track (wires) do not move it. If you move the junction the invisible track anchor points do not move with it which could explain the locos "jumping" as they pass over it.

To move a placed junction you must delete the wires and then recreate them in the new position.

Ahhhhh, the light does work, just forgot to turn it on!

I had a look around and you guys are right. I think the problem I'm having is when I replace the switch stand. I usually have to reposition it to get the junction working again. Never thought of the wires as invisible track, probably where I'm throwing the wrench in the works. Oh well, back in I go to redo some junctions. Learn something new every day.

Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it.

Dave......

I have also noticed a slight "twitch" on the straight switches, nothing big, you can avoid it by straightening the short end and aligning the spline closer to the entry point of the switch.

However being a train engineer this twitch is actually realistic for a worn mainline switch. If it gets really bad it can throw you straight out of the seat... they usually issue a slow order before it gets that bad though.

Thanks for the help, that was the problem. The invisible rail (wires) were a mess. Must have happened when I swapped the switch stands and moving them around to get the switch to work. Also quit laying the invisible track off to the side and moving everything into position. Everything is nice and smooth now. Still a little bit of a "jump" but as randknu says it seems prototypical.

Thanks again for the help. Now its on to the wonderful and exciting world of signaling. That has been a fun little puzzle to figure out in itself, even with everything from crb001's site.

I learned that the hard way too!
I couldn't figure why the trains would jump, and sometimes derail. I had not only mis-aligned the "wires" on the junctions, but the height was wrong. Sometimes the train would suddenly jump up or fall down into the junction.
The spline height for the invisible junction needs to be same, or maybe slightly above or below the height of the junction object. You can easily play with this.

I am trying to figure out a way to change the track on the junction to the one I am using on the rest of my mainline route.
The available track and ballast does not match the rest of my track. Also, rails do not line up with the rails on the mainline track.
Perhaps if I used another JK track, but I like the one I am using.

Perhaps I can fool with the image files to fix this?
