Amtrak cab car in TRS06?

I ran one of the three Amtrak routes that are available in TRS06 this afternoon (kudos to the guy who created it) but the only thing missing is the Amtrak loco,it shows up as the Santa Fe blue/yellow instead).I'd love to add this to my list of locos to use for passenger routes but don't have the slightest clue about the games KUID's & that sort of stuff so is it possible to simply import this loco into the game by downloading a route that has & uses it?

Also how do you use the DLS? It looks like all of the items available are payware vs freeware & it asks for a serial number when viewing items on their respective preview/download pages.Is the serial number you must enter the same code that is used during initial installation of the game?

First off, you aren't missing anything! :hehe: They purposely put the ATSF engines there. You can download some GE P42s from the DLS and www.protrainz.com and you can use them instead. But you can't change that train. Unless you know what they told it to do exactly so you can tell the new engines too

If you have trouble with the DLS P42s not working, trust me, get the P42 pack from www.protrainz.com.

I downloaded the amtrak loco but it shows up,both in railyard & surveyor as a boxcar.are there any skins I have to apply via paintshed perhaps?

Weird, that never happened to me. I got the P42s. 1 Amtrak, 1 New Haven, and 1 VIA Rail. Is that what's listed as your boxcars? Perhaps they might have linked it incorrectly. Is the boxcar defualt, or download?

Well I just tried downloading & installing the p42genesis pack from pro trainz & now I can't even open the file.The DCM won't open it neither will the dispatcher so I guess I'm SOL....I don't think I can or should keep trying to import files into the game as the way that Auran has coded the software makes it way more complex than it needs to be,I mean with No Limts coaster simulator all I have to do is download a rollercoaster track via the NL exchange or a fan site for the game,click on it's icon & it appears in NL's editor ready to use but this setup with the trainz series is ridiculous.I already messed up my RCT3 last year game by trying to import a defective scenery file that I downloaded off a a fansite related to that game & as a result can't play the game anymore so I don't want the same thing to happen with my trainz software.

It would be so much easier if Auran would just release these items on a CD as an add on pack that you can purchase at the store much like they did with trainz complete collection.

I will have those dependices sent ASAP/Pronto! Also just so u know, my dependices have Released on my web. Click on my Sig, then "Downloads", & under "Downloads for Trainz/TRS" there's a download called "Amtrak Cabcar Dependices for TRS2006".

For the Cab Car do you only have to copy the items from your website into the folder for the Cab Car?

The download is a .zip file which unzips into a temp folder as:
Leslie RS3K kuid2:126323:54012:1
MN shorelinercab Interior kuid:523:762762
Shoreliner_Truck kuid:523:100953
For TRS2006 you use CMP and select File - Import Content and point to the temp folder to import and commit.
These kuids are builtin to TS2009 and TS2010.

well it contains all the items from the cab car used in TC (Trainz Classics), which the reskins i made for Amtrak, New Heaven, & SEPTA, i accidentally published to the DLS in the versions TRS2006.
