Am I Doing Something Wrong?

I took a small break from Trainz 2019 back in April. At that time I could drive a train on my route, then do a quick edit in surveyor and my train would be in the same location I stopped before I edited my route, it would even be in that location during the time I was in surveyor mode. After I would make my edits I would resume and continue playing where I left off. A couple of days ago I decided to get back into trainz and that has totally changed and it has not been a fun experience at all. I'd drive a train, stop to do a quick edit, and my train is no longer there and is sitting in the spot I initially started from. Am I doing something wrong? And is there a way to revert Trainz 2019 to the way it was?

I may be wrong, but I believe that the ability to switch between editing and driving on the fly (UDS?) was not available in standard TRS19. It is available on TRS19-Platinum and higher. Did you have any changes in membership or access levels?

As Oddrails has mentioned above, that facility (the UDS or Unified Driver Surveyor interface) is only available in TRS19 Platinum and Trainz Plus. It has never been a part of TRS19 (standard).

You may be thinking of Quick Drive, which is available in Surveyor from the Tools Menu, or by pressing the Ctrl-F2 key combination.

I did have a change in membership yes. I had to cancel. Would that effect the way the game is played if it is your own route with no payware?

Yes, as a member you would have use of new features and DLC items. These are withdrawn when membership stops and the version reverts to your purchased game.

hf1978,
Yes. Dropping down to TRS19 standard eliminates access to the UDS feature in Surveyor/Driver. Sorry.

pware,
Thanks for confirming my fuzzy thinking with accurate details! (I always smile when someone mentions senior moments in the forum.)

Here is my experience. I purchased TRS19 North American Edition from Steam which I believe at the time was SP1. Later when TRS19 Platinum came out I purchased it from N3V directly while it was on sale and they were offering a discount to TRS19 owners which made the price about $24. I believe this was SP3 at the time. My TRS19 NA had been updated to SP3 as well by Steam. So magically after the Platinum purchase was added to my account, TRS19 NA had access to all the DLC available to the full version of Platinum and the UDS interface was working as well. The branding on the launcher also now showed as Trainz 2019 Platinum Edition. This continued through SP4 but when SP5 was released it turned off all the Platinum features that had been available in my standard edition of TRS19. So I assume that what I had been experiencing was a bug in the system that was corrected. When asked Tony only responded with the terse answer of "...only the standard edition is available through Steam." Oddly, my Steam version of TRS19 still displays the launch screen for Trainz 2019 Platinum Edition.

"Terse" meaning "sparing in the use of words" rather than any emotive meaning I hope. I could add flowery language but prefer to stick to the facts (as much as I can). :)

Hopefully you'll find that each version now operates as the label states - TRS19 = TRS19 features, Platinum has access to Platinum features, Trainz Plus has Trainz Plus features.

The Steam version showing Platinum launcher sounds like a bug or it may be resolved if you create a new local data folder.

Of course, you are correct Tony, I long ago learned never to interpret emotions into online conversations. :D The fact is I'm happy it reverted back as I prefer the old system as I perceive it harder for my old mind to make a mistakes when creating sessions.

I might try a new data folder but I don't mind the branding difference. That local data folder would be a bear to copy to a new location and it seems to be happy where it is as TRS19 has never ran better.
