all Trainz content in the game missing?

Which version of Trainz do you have? If it is TRS2006 have you committed you content,in CMP?

Regards Bruce

Which build number have you got? did you patch it up to 2365 as all your content might be for build 2.4 and you have 2.3 installed.

Tom

I emailed you about this this morning. What steps have you taken in response to my email?

For the information of others, he is quite young, and seems unsure what he has to do. We have been trying to help him because he has been having considerable problems doing a satisfactory installation of the DHR. In this latest episode I believe he has deleted his .JA files, he wants to blame the DHR downloaded files, but as he has lost his builtin files, all the evidence points to something he has done.

He has TRS2004

If someone with more patience can lead him to a satisfactory conclusion, Bill and I would be most grateful.

Cheers

Hi Tom,

Are you confident using Windows Explorer (which is a different program to Internet Explorer)? If so, can check whether you've got each of these files please:

C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\data.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\trains.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\Bin\Resources.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\3rd_Party_assets.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\australia.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\Core.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\English_countryside.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\Germany.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\Paintshed.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\sp3.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\Swiss_Alps.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\Ultimate_Trainz.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\USA.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\UTC_scenarios.ja
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\YardMaster.ja

those are chump files

Err... you need the .ja files as well. Chump files are IIRC, database files, that reference the location of a particular asset, which Trainz reads, then carries out the instructions, as per a config.txt file.

No JA files + no mesh to draw on the screen + no instructions = you do the maths.

Tom,

Nope, the chump files are in addition to the ones I've listed and are in a different folder, namely C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\Cache

If the files I've listed have gone and aren't still in your recycle bin then unless anyone with more knowledge can suggest a better alternative you'll have to uninstall and reinstall TRS2004 and its SP4. Be sure to back up anything you've created or downloaded and care about first.

Things you've created are in the subfolders of C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\Custom

Things you've downloaded are in C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\World\Dispatcher\Downloads

Ask if you need more help regarding doing all this.

John

Scour the CAB file with WinRAR, but some CAB files, you cannot do that with. Then copy the file over to their respective locations.

I have recently had the same thing, I even posted the fact in another thread on this forum - one day TRS2004 worked fine then the next, all the rolling stock - including the built-in content refused to show.

The names were listed in Railyard but it was like everything had missing dependancies, even the camera would shift just as if it was going to display but there was nothing there.

Unfortunately I didn't come across a solution because within a fortnight my mainboard packed up - maybe releated, maybe not. I say this because last time I had a problem with TRS it was due to a faulty RAM stick.

In that case, then, Microsoft do a Memory test disc creator, for free, that you can put on a floppy and test your RAM with. It might be worth it.

Memtest+ is an alternative memory tester program that some people reckon is better than Microsoft's. Read the instructions - you have to create a boot floppy or CD.

sorted

hi everyone
i reinstalled the game. that doesent delete the content already installed,
everything worked fine after that,
thanks everyone who came up with the options, i found a chump file called dispatcher, the whole reason because of this, i reckon it was because i deleted all the chump files (by mistake)
