what's a normal map?
It is pretty ok. The general description is good though several of the illustrations are improvised and simplified. The dynamic brake for instance is completely reversed but generally all the components shown are in the right place, overall it is a neat vid.

Perhaps the video was made before the advances in AC traction, as he states the traction motors are more accurately controlled with DC.
It was mentioned that Multiple Units can be connected and controlled usually from the front unit. It was not made clear that the Independent Brake will be applied on all MU'd locos. (I guess on all DPU locos as well.)
The design of the turbocharger system was interesting. I had no idea that they were interconnected to produce the best results at any RPM.

I would say it is more likely an overlooked detail. there is no way anyone was making videos like this before AC traction motors.
