Alaska Railroad: Seward to Fairbanks(Large Pics)

Hi, I am embarking on another route after taking a break from my other routes, The Alaska Railroad from Seward, AK to Fairbanks, AK and all stops in between. So far I have part of Seward done, from the station up to the yard lead. This route will be built in phases as there are 5 DEM's total... each phase is broken up into stages which are A) Trackwork B)Structures/Misc (this stage may take a while as I need custom buildings for the stations and airports) and C) Texturing. So, without farther adieu I present to you a wild-hog-riden Seward, AK!

DO IT!!! :p

I used to live up there in Eagle River, just north of Anchorage. We would take the train down to Seward to go on sightseeing cruises.

I'm gonna do it, the problem is how long it will take, I had to redo the yard five times to get the lead at the right angle so it doesn't run into the airport...

Also, does anyone know where I can get some locomotives and rolling stock for the Alaska Railroad besides the DLS? Ex: passenger equipment.

Hallo,

this must going to be a very nice project.
May I ask which season you want to go for?

I created a lot ofseasonal assets for my new Milwaukee Road Avery-Drexel route.

I like season change very much because I like summer, fall and snowy routes and within season change we dont need to deside in which season we want to create our routes anymore.
It just must be very great if your Alaska RR would be available within a 100% of season change support as well.

Just see some examples how such a route looks like by following this link:

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?39904-TUME’s-Simulation-of-“The-Milwaukee-Road”/page45

More screens you can find by looking back some pages.

At the moment there are several seasonal textures avalable at the DLS. Also Dinorius_Redundicus started to create seasonal assets.
I hope I will be able to finish my seasonal Avery-Drexel route soon to get it released within the seasonal assets you can see at the screens.

Have lots of fun creating the Alaska RR.

I think the only thing from ARR right now is JR's RS1. I, however have MTH O-Scale Models of an entire Alaska RR passenger Set (Baggage, Diner, Sleeper, Coach, Vista Dome, Observation, and a Full-Length Vista Dome.) I also have an F3 ABA set, as well as a GP38, all nice and cozy in boxes.

@Tume, I have thought of seasonal texturing and was planning on going with it if I could find some, so until I can get some I thinking January as the only Alaskan sky I could find on the DLS was for January, I'm thinking of making my own though, would it be possible to make a sky seasonal?

@DJReonic I'll have to ask my parents about the RS1...

I will need to check a sky asset to study an example. I have not made asky asset jet.
If I cannot find anything out I will ask how to do it at N3V.

Finished all tracks in Seward, AK, Finished the water and raised the land where docks are located... now onto the mainline out of Seward. Also, I merged the Anchorage South, Anchorage, and Anchorage North DEM's to complete the Anchorage part, now I have to merge the Fairbanks DEM's and and merge tose into Alaska RR...

Anyways, here are the pics:

Track work needs some help. Try using the smooth spline tool, on it so its not so jagged.

hert:wave:

So, went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg today so not much work, just this:

and some revisions here:

Also messed with water and water textures, the water color almost matches:

All of that together:

That would be nice. Would it be possible to not do speed trees? I'm curious because my computer cannot handle them. Crash every time I try. The default routes are useless.

Update, tracks to...unknown?

First up who can tell what bridge this is (in real not the model name):
