AI Train question

I just had one AI train question (I am new) but been playing around with things a bit I like using the AI trains and just sitting back and watching things work.... My question is this: Are the AI Train physics the SAME as if you are driving a train your self? In my observations (maybe I am wrong) but it seems that AI trains are able to stop faster & pick up speed much faster? Even if they are carrying ten full coal cars up a long grade.

Any ideas or comments?

AI trainz use the simplified 'DCC' controls, so if you are driving in 'Cab' the AI trainz will behave differently...

Is there any way to get them to operate in cab mode physics?
