AI & Speed Control

Get over it
Hope I can explain this correctly. The posted speed is 50mph at point A and 30mph at point B which is a far distance from A. However, it seems that the AI only sees the 30mph even though in the cab it shows 50mph. What/how do I get the loco to go the posted speed? My thinking is to post more 50mph signs before the 30mph and if so how close to the 30mph sign do I post a sign? Is there a way to adjust the distance the AI sees posted speed signs? Thanks.

There are a couple of things to check which I noticed affect how the AI behaves in TS12.

Have you put any in between signals such as type 05's after the first junction setup and the end one?

My general setup is:

Single track followed by a Type 06 facing towards the single track on the single side of the siding. On the double-track side, there are Type 04s facing back towards the double track. From this point until the next single track, I put Type 05s in between with one signal each facing the direction of travel. I noticed that the prototype commuter line sets up their rail lines the same way where I live, except they use Type 08s at the single to double junctions. I tried this and it didn't work.

Another thing is switch direction. If you have a switch not aligned for the AI driver, then he will operate at the slower speed the whole length of the route no matter how fast you set the speed to be prior to the switch.

This question has been asked before, and invariably someone talks about signals, points, and all. But really, I have this problem when there is nothing ahead, just speed limiting signals, and AI "sees" them far away from the limiting speed sign, and reduces the speed to the indication!. So, you have a station where you sign it to 25KPH ( or miles), and the traight track leading to the station is limited to 50 for quite some distance. The loco, at a far distance goes down to 25 and runs slowly until it reaches the station. At that point it continues at 25... I have taken away the speed limited station sign and then the train goes at the right speed. But of course, entering the station at 50 is not realistic and gives a good chance to derailments and crashings. The solution, for sure is to limit the way AI "sees" incoming speed signs until let's say the loco is at 100 yards (or meters) from it. Somebody sugested at some point that this is done this way for usage in multiplayer. So, the majority of us don't do multiplayer, and have to endure the effect. Is that fair? Any solutions?
