Aerotrain and Blue Comet opinions?

Anybody got em? Any good? High quality or so/so? (I'd be getting it/them for TS12)

I know they are on sale, but I don't want to throw away even $5

Both are worth the $15-$19.99 I paid. I especially enjoy the Blue Comet. The Blue Comey comes with several cars with interiors. I forget if the Aerotrain did.

I have the blue comet, didn't buy it from Auran, bought it from Amazon for a very low price, but I recommend it highly.

Does it (the comet) suffer from the same sound issue as every other steam loco I've downloaded... namely LOUD AS HELL chugging at first followed by an abrupt switch to chugging you can hardly hear at all.

I remember doing audio files for MSTS to smoothly transition from one sample (wav file) to the next, took a lot of trial and error, so I know it's not easy - but those sound sets stink on ice....

I presume by 'loud as hell' you're referring to the annoying bug of blow-off being excessively noisy (opened safety valves when boiler pressure becomes too high) - which doesn't just affect the Blue Comet sadly. It seems to effect most steam locomotives in 2010/2012, but I first noticed it with the Comet. It was apparently fixed though with a patch, but only for the Multiplayer one - if you're not running Multiplayer on 2010 the non-MP equivalent patch doesn't fix for some reason. Ah well.

However, on real steam locos blow-off is very loud and noisy though so that is realistic after all. ;)

But yeah, I love the Blue Comet - even though I don't have that much interest in US prototype it's such a nicely designed train I couldn't resist, and you get three different locos and five carriages in the pack for your money too. :) I don't know about the Aerotrain though as I don't own that.

I'm like Enkidoh. I'm no fan of US Railroads (I'm a British/Irish man myself), but Blue Comet is so beautiful! The interiors are sumptuous! (They're even better than the Brighton Belle (all Pullman) was).

I just wish someone had completed a really good version of the CNJ route from the outskirts of NYC to Atlantic City for it to run over. If anyone is working on it, please speak up!

Peter.

I have all of the DLC's except the shunter and although I like the Duchess and Coronation Scot the Blue Comet and it's coaches are so beautifully made and so detailed it is certainly worth the full price let alone the give away price that it is now on sale for.
I too would love a CNJ route to use it on.

Actually, I don't think that one is part of the 75% sale.

EDIT: Just checked - the price should be showing at just under $5.

I too have just tried to order and got to the final page and all items are listed as full price. Another N3V cock-up?

The Blue Comet is SO awesome. As are the cars that come with it. I've just bought the Aerotrain, and although I havn't actually drove it yet, when I placed it in Surveyor, my jaw dropped.

For fun, I tested the price of TS12 since someone else had an issue with that and it seems to be fixed. I just checked the Coronation Scot and it shows full price. The point being is that it seems to be hit or miss.

No, not that. I know that's real - no this is:

CHUG CHUG CHUG (real loud up to a few mph) then puff puff puff puff (real soft) and the change is abrupt. Many, but not all the steamers I've downloaded do it (I guess they are all using the same sound asset?).
