Hi Trainzers,

I'm hoping someone can assist me with this.

Does anyone know what coal workings transport coal to Rugeley Power Station (Staffordshire, UK)? From what I've gathered, some of it is from Liverpool Bulk Terminal, but I haven't worked out the exact routing for that.

Any assistance given is appreciated, as it will help me route my coal workings correctly on my route.

Not sure if it's currently receiving anything from Liverpool bulk terminal .
If it is then the routing could be either via Stafford - Bushbury - Pleck - Walsall - Hendesford or
Stafford - Colwich - Rugeley TV - Rugeley Power stn junc - Set back into Power station .

Realtime trains website has actual listings for trains in the Rugeley area http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/advanced?location=Rugeley+town&date=24%2F04%2F2013&tocs=All&timespan=3&show_schedules=11&schedule_type=0&show_wtt=1&show_var=1&show_stp=1 (FRGT) is freight but note that even though a path exists the train may not run .

Hi Dave,

Many thanks for your response.

That link will come in very helpful as it does include coal workings (which most of them seem to be coming from Crewe BH or similar).

Shane

P.S. I've also learnt some interesting workings through my local station (Kidderminster) as well.

One thing you can guarantee is that it will be from some port or other, being as how maggie killed off the British coal industry, we're sat on a fortune in black gold, but because it suits those with the most money stashed in offshore investments in gas & oil to keep the working class subservient to their whims & bank balance building, we we always be told that it's cheaper to mine it on the other side of the world & ship it all the way here.

As a marine engineer, I know different, because I know how may gallons of oil a large cargo carrier burns per nautical mile, I know how much it costs per day to have that ship moored at the quayside while it loads & unloads, I also know how much it costs for servicing & spares for those engines.

So you tell me that the destruction of the British coal industry, including it's workers, their families, the communities & all the industries that supplied it, was worth what maggie gave us ................

.............. and i'll call you a pratt, because you ain't got a clue what your talking about.

Sorry if that upsets anybody, but that's my 'ten penerth'.

Coal
Anglo – Scottish coal is diverted away from the
WCML by day due to the passenger timetable
pattern (via Settle and Carlisle and then Hellifield -
Blackburn) and returns to the West Coast at
Farington Junction, near Preston. This traffic
continues to travel on the route to Fiddlers Ferry,
Rugeley and Ironbridge power stations.
Coal also moves from Liverpool Docks and
Ellesmere Port to Fiddlers Ferry and utilizes the
WCML between Winwick Junction and Warrington.
Coal also moves from Scotland to Ironbridge and
Rugeley power stations. Rugeley and Fiddlers Ferry
also receive coal from Portbury.
