Adrian and Blissfield Railroad

HLJames

I'm currently working on modeling the Adrian and Blissfield Railroad. There's not much yet, but I figured it's worth sharing early on so I can start gathering feedback while being able to track my progress over time.

This railroad is about 16-20 miles long (depends on who you ask) and is famous for running their Old Road and Murder Mystery Dinner Trains. I have happened to catch it twice to date and hoping to see some freight movement in the near future. It interchanges with NS near Adrian and IORY near Blissfield. This is the same railroad that happens to own the Detroit Connecting Railroad, which is included in Trainz 2010/Mac.

I'm open to any questions, I'm sure I forgot something. On to the pictures now.

This is the area I'm modeling.

Currently I got a basic start to the interchange with the IORY, I'm still working on this area as I speak.

And just to note, I'm using the "ADBF TRS" route blank I found on the DLS, it's not that accurate but at least it gives a good base to work from.

Just a note to anyone wondering about progress: Slow, been working to finish up the school year and also seeing trains. I will make a lot more progress this weekend though.

I would of made more progress but life recently has been very busy, my schedule frees up starting next week for more progress though.

Stage 2 Plans: Also, I will at a later date expand this towards Norfolk Southern's Airline Yard in Toledo. There has been plans mentioned by the MDOT that ADBF might want to get the track put back in between Riga and Ottawa Lake to move the interchange from Adrian to Toledo, so it would be nice to have an potential option for those sort of operations in an future version.
Stage 3 Plans: Also, due to the nature of the DEM map I'm working from I might also be able to fit in old lines that got tore up back in the early 80s - imagine the huge operating potential this could have.

And about releasing the map to the public when I actually finish it, that might occur after I finish each stage. I, however, need to arrange the ability to use TS2009 on my old PC to test and release. No promises, although more doable if someone could reskin the engines (and cars) that they own. (ADBF + Lenawee County Railroad?)

I put it on hold for now, due to life has given me other things to do. Also, I've been planning a different route to work on that'll end up reaching the Adrian and Blissfield Railroad, which'll bring me back to working on this.

Ok please take your time!!!
I was just about to bring this topic back up, since the other day I followed them from Adrian out to Blissfield and it's inspired me to get back to work on this throughout the next few weeks, especially during this upcoming winter. I'm also planning to do the I&O, and down in to Toledo (NS' Airline Yard) at some point too since there'd be lots of operating potential on those tracks. I'm also going to get some fictional engines done just to have something to run in future screenshots.

Hi HLJames, i hope you continue to work on this little line. I live about 15 minutes away from this lines end in adrian. Ive seen the engines quiet a bit due to the increase of traffic thanks to the ethanol plant and W2fuel. You've inspired me to give it a try, I hope it comes out ok.

The plan is to continue it, life's just been busy recently. Especially considering I'm working on getting in to business, which will hopefully bring some more content for me to use for this route.

Just a quick update on this route: I could continue working on this, but I'm currently overcoming a few issues that has caused me to put off the project. Luckily that gap is closing, and I might be able to get some decent work going soon. So, not much longer before I start posting some more updates. (after this weekend, maybe?)
