Adding Spline junctions to a Fixed Track piece - lever not functional

I can add two track splines to a fixed track piece to form a junction, even if I have to do it at ground level then raise the FT to the correct height.

I can also add a junction lever.

But the junction lever is not functional. It displays two red arrows, the direction of the junction cannot be changed, even by toggle-junction-direction.

I know this can be overcome by deleting the fixed track piece and replacing it by a short length of spline track, then straightening that short length, but as I have created a "fixed track piece" that I am also using to control alignment of tracks and embankments at a junction, it would be a far easier setup if I could place an operating lever on the junction.

Can this be done?

Do you mean that you add spline track to each end of a section of fixed track, or in the middle of the set track? If the latter, I was not aware that it could be done. if the former, then I don't think you can make a junction with diverging track where the spline and fixed tracks meet.

Why would you want to use Fixed Tracks anyway ?

The only good Fixed tracks are the ones that are animated turnouts ... all the rest are for temporary alignment of curves, and are fugly ... etc ...

If I add two tracks at one end of a fixwd track piece it will make a junction, it just can't be switched...

As in this screenshot here. The bright green (invisible-in-driver) pieces are my embankment alignment pieces, there is another behind the camera. They are keeping the tracks and embankments in alignment around the curves following the junction.

The junction lever stays with two red arrows no matter what I do.

Of course, a work-round is to delete the alignment piece and replace it with normal spline track, apply the straighten tool to that short piece. But I have found it is almost too easy to slightly move the spline points on the existing track when doing that, which upsets the alignment, hence if I could use this piece to actually create the junction it makes setting up a lot easier.

FT (Fixed Track) can not go up a grade, as it lays flat ... so I am presuming that you are using multitrack splines ... Which are great for initial track alignment (I use it 100% of the time) ... but I always end up replacing it with single track after the grades are installed
