adding a mesh to a mesh????

Subways and railroads
can somebody tell how can i add a mesh to an existing mesh? for example if i wanted to add a catenary to a track, does anybody know how to do this?

Hi jamal17,

That's something I've been wondering about too, but I'm pretty sure it'll have to be built and exported with the track as they'll use track-lod meshes.

Example, if you make a single track with a single catenary it'll have to be exported at the same time with the track and have end-caps.

Hi jamal17,

You can use 3 programs, Gmax and Blender which is free, or can use 3ds max which needs to be paid for, I'd rather 3ds max because Gmax loves
to crash allot and you loose lots of work and time.

if i wanted to add a catenary to a track shouldn't it be the same as adding a 3rd rail to a track? its just that the catenary wire is going to be above. i dont want to add no poles or any thing just the wire

so once i copy that to the config.txt file of a track it will automatically become part of the track without doing any editing or adding attatchments?

Do you mean merging a catenary asset into track asset?
I thought you meant you wanted to know how to build one
it's still not that easy, I don't know if the config will let
you do that as there can only be 1 track mesh in the config,
a double and 3 track mesh is exported into trainz as 2 or 3 I believe.
someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

not necessarily because a guy made a subway track with and without the third rail and he had the same third rail as a spline. and the track with the 3rd rail was a 1 track mesh

Actually, that's something different, track is made on a 2 or 5 meter length "the 3rd rail would of been too", catenarys are on a 25 to 35 meter length, if you merge it the wires will have the pole joins every 2 - 5 meters "I don't mean the poles" I mean where the poles join up.

You can try it that way but I doubt it can be done.

EDIT: I just tried to add a mesh and CMP gives this

Error: The Tag 'track1' is not permitted within a container of type 'track'.
