Hello All
This section is to introduce our current railway project.
This Project has already been underway for the past 14 months, it started out as a relatively small route using Auran’s ™ Railway Simulator 2006.
With the introduction of Auran’s ™ Trainz Simulator 2009, and the exceptional processing power provided by today's computers, we decided to expand the work into a much larger route, covering several hundred KM’s.
The route itself is fictional, linking America, Canada and Wales. UK; through a variety of rail, air, and road networks. However the terrain is actual World Terrain, using the excellent program created by Roland Ziegler; TransDem. The actual terrain is taken from the Italian Alps Region, Europe. This area was chosen to give a wide variety of terrain which includes Coastal, Plains and Mountainous regions.
The route itself will be split into three regions, representing the countries, America, Canada and Wales. This is the fictional part of the route, as you know, the only border between America/Canada and Wales is the Atlantic Ocean. However this 'Fiction' does allow International Trade between the three countries. This also gave birth to our groups name. ACW. (America, Canada and Wales.) The trading aspect can be carried out by rail, road and air transport and will give a vast amount of possibilities for different scenarios.
We have also been looking into the future of Railroad Simulations, where this particular route can easily be adapted for multi-user operation, should this ever come about.
Through many discussions, we have tried to make this route as user-friendly as possible, without taking away the many realistic aspects of Railway Simulations. There will also be areas available where you can add your own track/road and make additional scenarios. However as already stated, the current scenario creation possibilities are infinite.
At regular intervals, we will endeavour to upload screenshots of our progress via this Forum. We hope to release the prototype in the Fall/Autumn of 2010.
During construction, we welcome any remarks, criticisms and/or ideas which you may have towards the final version. Your ideas will be given careful consideration, and if used, you will be given the full credit for it.
We have also endeavoured to keep the dependencies as Freeware. Either downloaded from Auran's ™ Download Station; built-in with Trainz 2009™ or constructed by ourselves. If its the latter, these will also become available from the DS.
The recommended specs for this simulation are Trainz 2009™, a 256 MB Graphic Card and 2 Gigs of Ram.
Although, the route has been tested with a lower spec machine without a noticeable loss of frame rate. Those of you who wish to download this simulation, but have a machine with much lower specs, don't despair. Just put a brief post here and, if we have enough request we will produce a lower version which will run on lower spec machines, without the Simulation loosing too much of its full commitments.
Please note however. This Simulation depends on the many new aspects included in Tr 2009™, running on earlier editions of Trainz ™, wouldn't give the desired effect.
We have, and will continue to be fully committed to the construction of this route, when complete it will be available as freeware via Auran's™ Download Station. If for any reason the download station becomes unavailable, (We Hope Not), then we will seek out other methods of getting this route directly to your machine.
Keep tuned in for further information.
All we ask of you is Enjoy.
Best Wishes
The ACW Group.
