THIS IS A WARNING THAT A REG USER IS HACKING INTO ACCOUNTS AND USING HIS ID NUMBER TO CHANGE YOUR ID NUMBER BUT NOT YOUR USER NAME SOME OF THE CONTENT HAS BEEN MADE CORRUPT MAKING YOU LOOK LIKE A NERD AT CREATING.
USER NO USED IS 93312 BELONG TO A USER IN CANADA

I don't know if you reported this via the helpdesk or not, but I reported the thread to make someone aware of it.

Already reported it but many thanks for doing it again can take up to 5 days before they get back to me so in the meantime they will continue to do what they are doing .Will stop uploading new content for the moment until all is back to normal.

This is just shocking.

First Sony.... now Trainz.

Could this be in anyway tied to the DLS asset repair in progress?

Is there anyway to ID the user name from the User number? There is no content in CMP with a user number 93312.

Regards,

Go and view the profile of someone in the forums. In the address bar of your browser, replace the number after the "u=" in the address with that of the user in question, minus 30000 (note that this only applies to users who did not get Trainz User IDs below 30000 a long time ago). For example, I subtracted 30000 from the User ID in question here, did this procedure, and it took me to the profile of brs_matt (who is from Canada), here: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/member.php?u=63312.

Regards.

I'm sure whatever was done was perfectly innocent, and with the best of intentions, but you know how I always give everyone the benefit of the doubt...

I'm very surprised that NV3/Auran haven't deleted any of these accounts from November 2006 if they've never posted anything onto these forums. On other forums, if you don't post anything for 6 weeks, you're account is closed automatically, which obviously gets rid of the bandwidth hoggers who never post anything and you ensure any hackers don't last long. If you're a legit account holder you can make a claim to have your account re-activated.
It would be interesting to learn how many accounts were transferred over in 2006 from "THE FAMOUS CRASH", that have not been used since.

Hi Ex....

The bottom of the main forum pages shows....

Members: 441,250, Active Members: 4,213

So, if we subtract active users from Members we get....437,037 inactive users?

I do not know if "ACTIVE" means people who have posted.

But N3V may not reduce that number because a new potential customer looking at the forums for the first time may think.... hmmm.... not that many here.

Just my guess.

Regards,

Hi Ron.

I can see your philosophy Sir, but, I wouldn't have thought there would be 437,037 inactive users, somehow. I know for a fact that many veterans on here don't post that much, but, they are still very active within the game as a whole.
I daresay you could be right about new potential customers, however, I wouldn't really be put off personally purchasing a product just because they have a low number of members on their particular forum, but, maybe I'm just an old fuddy duddy. :hehe:
It all depends on how these figures are interpreted of course, members probably means all time account registrations over the years, but, active members, is that based on forum log-ins, number of posts, etc, who knows, but, I'm sure that they could save a bit of database bandwidth if they got rid of some of the old, unused accounts.

I like to think carrying the inactive members just demonstrates Auran's intense loyalty to thier customers...

Or lack of bandwidth, I mean time and employees to attack yet another problem.

It's like that now where I work. I support 450-plus end-users and now new-hires coming every Monday for the next 8 months. There's just so much that can be done in one day, week, or month. I'm supposed to get help soon(tm) with this, but I don't count on it.

ok how do you know it's someone hacking the accounts when for all we know it's someone who is uploading content just to get them error free and not really 'fixing' them?
