A riddle/poem for a train!

Alco Spoken Here
A new game that I have come up with! One person says a riddle or a poem, and we guys guess the train.

I'l start:

Flashy and fast, shiny and new,
I was really built to last.
I drew stares,
but no extra fares, on my overnight dash.
A new design,
in a past time, made money fast.
Especially when railroads needed
a way to make more cash.
A streak of silver,
a breath of wind,
going toward the west,
in the area of speed, I am no longer the best.
The glory days have passed,
my brethren are gone,
but I have to ask,
who am I?

All those who guessed zephyr, you are right!

I can't stop guessing ... the hiawatha

Rollin' down that Seaboard Line

Pioneer Zephyr AKA The Silver Streak.

Here's mine

In Britain, 1978,
Passengers are running late,
I have to keep on running,
My warship engines, loudly thrumming.

The loco, one of the last,
Has to get there, and get there fast!
The new HST, it's design cunning
My warship engines keep on thrumming.

What am I

Even better was the short film of the night Royal Mail train here in GB with a poem recited as a very BBC voice over. Can remember seeing it played years ago on a train tv programme. Anyone else remember this one and the words. With a fast steam train thundering through the night it has always stuck with me. Think it was actually called 'The Night Train'??

I believe it was called 'The Night Mail', as I have a book with the poem in it, as well as some other poems and stories.

The film was Night Mail produced by the GPO film unit in 1936 documenting the night mail run from London to Glasgow on the LMS. You can find the poem here.

Thanks captainkman and teddyfoot. That is it and have always thought it a brilliant voiceover along with the rushing steam train. The link is appreciated.
