To whomever,
I have no idea where to begin when it comes to building 3d models on a computer. And to be honest, I really do not have the time or desire at this moment to learn. As summer begins, so does my 80 to 90 hour work week.
Despite my lack of willingness/time to learn how to create content for Trainz 2009, I still like making layouts/routes. So yesterday, I forced myself to learn how to use TransDEM (bought it months ago, never used it.) With great surprise to myself, I figured it out (mostly) and was able to get the Geography and RR lines for my area of residence (Whitehall and Montague, MI.. Two small towns on opposite sides of a small river.) I was also able to get the Geography of Muskegon, MI where a local shortline called Michigan Shores Rail Road operates. The line that runs through Whitehall used to connect to the lines in Muskegon, and from there head to Holland and Grand Rapids. With the closing of first Hooker and then Dupont chemical in Montague, we no longer had any rail served industries so the idiots in my hometown voted to build a bike path and remove the tracks! Anyway, I digress.
My first request...
Does anyone know any information about what type of locomotives were running in the Muskegon area in the 1980s, early 1990s? I know our local bit of track was C&O for a long time (1800s in the logging days) and then was Chessie System (still love those colors) and then CSX before it shut down...
And if so, where I can get a few good quailty weathered engines that fit the time period (I am willing to pay for top shelf products here.)
My second request...
I would like to start a layout of the Muskegon tracks that is current. So this would be the MMRR operation. I will first work on the Whitehall & Montague layout as it only has 4 industries serviced by the rails, and only single track that basicly goes straight through the towns with only 3 portals needed (one that goes to Shelby/Heart, one that goes to Fremont, and one that goes to Muskegon.) What I need for my Muskegon Layout is a few high quaility locomotives in the Michigan Shores Rail Road, Grand Rapids Rail Road, Mid Michigan Railroad, and Possibly the CSX paint jobs.
To be honest, I am not sure what these railroads are running for locomotives. I know that at the engine shed in Norton Shores (just south of Muskegon) it looks like the MSRR just put a nice new paint job on an SW1500 and possibly a GP38...
So here is what I need...
I would like 5 engines created for me...
1 MSRR GP38 w/ new paint (if that is the correct engine type.)
1 MSRR SW1500 w/ new paint (if that is the correct engine type.)
1 MMRR ???? weathered (will take picture, maybe someone can help identify what type of locomotive it is)
1 GRRR ???? weathered (will take picture, maybe someone can help identify what type of locomotive it is)
1 CSXT ???? weathered (This one I guess it does not really matter what type of engine it is as long as it is current... perhaps an SD40 or GP38 would be fine here, as I have never really seen a CSXT locomotive running on the tracks of the MSRR, but thought it would be nice to have it visit from time to time. Though I am sure I could just download an already made model for this one)
Well, there you have it. When I get a chance I will get pictures of all of these engines (unless the MSRR kicks me off the yard haha)
Also, just to be clear, I want high quality models here that will work with Trainz 2009, that can be shutdown and started, that have working and realistic fuel usage, with a complete and working cab (if the train is weathered, I assume the cab would be too... lol)
Yes, I am more then willing to PAY for them if they are top notch.. =)
If anyone is up to the challenge let me know and I will try to get pictures to you as soon as I can take them.
And this concludes the longest forum post I have ever made.
