A New Twist

So I was wondering about doing a fictional railroads where I write books & what have you about them and their history and where they stand today. Also doing some videos displaying the railroads in action like Pentrex. Locos & rolling stock would be highly detailed as prototypes in real life but with fictional roads. Would anyone be interested if I did that?

A small hint Chris .....................................................

QUIT WORRYING ABOUT THINGS ....................... just go play the game, you will find it more fun pleasing yourself, than
worrying about how you look to the rest of us. ;)

I'm not. I'd just like to see if that would be something everyone would enjoy. Could help me out a lot.

If doing it would please you Chris ................................... GO FOR IT :D

You're only here once, plus I have never seen anything yet, that was done for Trainz, that didn't please more than a few users. ;)

It is your hobby. You should do with your hobby what you consider fun.

If you consider building a complete fictional raidroad with all the ins and outs fun, go do it, enjoy it, and dont bother us with asking for confirmation.

Kris,

I find having a history of a fictional route is helpful when you are creating and running because it helps keep everything "on track". See my history of my personal route. I've gone as far as to describe details and history of each and every branch line. I wrote this up as though I was writing a railroad history of the area. I based this on a travel log I received on a railfan trip I went on a number of years ago. The group sold, for a couple of dollars each, a small booklet that contained a brief history of the line and branchlines as we went along.

Here's a post about my early route's history. There have been some revisions in the route since then, but this gives you an idea of what I've done.

Here's another branch, not included in the route above. This was built much later and is based on an actual DEM file from Fishlipsatwork. I've merged this into my route and this section is accessible via the Mountain Division (a merging of the River Sub of Norfolk Southern). I changed the trees and industries to mach New England, but I left the coal mines to make things interesting. With the hardwoods replaced with mostly pines, the area looks like New Hampshire instead of the southern Appalachian Mountains!

As I said, this keeps things on track because I'm able to pick and choose carefully what kinds of industries would exist along the route, and what kind of trains I'll run. It's not to say that I don't run some eclectic equipment once in awhile. On my route now, I have a couple of railroad museums so I can run other equipment like steam locomotives from Europe and England, which are not normally found in New England.

Will Shack be working the lines?

Could make for some interesting stories.

I would say if you want to make something creative, go for it. Oh, and the pic someone posted here above of Ernest Borgnine in the movie "Emperor of the North", great pic and great flick.

Cheers

Kris, there are many things that you could do within the Trainz framework to help contribute to the community, but first you have to discover your talent.

Just call it

"GEOFF"

... there you go.

*pushes you slightly forward*

Be off my friend. Towards your next adventure.

Cheers,
Joshua
