A little help with the surveyor

I do disagree that Surveyor 2.0 has a difficult learning curve. It may be for those that only ever used Surveyor Classic (aka S10), but for me it was not hard.
Those (like myself) who spent decades using Surveyor Classic will have or did have a long and steep learning curve in the switch to Surveyor 2.0 but that climb was well worth it.

I had the same issues when MS introduced the Ribbon into their Office products, and GIMP made changes to its user interface, the list goes on. The lesson here is that when you first learn a skill, that learning becomes "fixed" and any changes will bring chaos. If/when Surveyor 3.0 is released those of us who started Trainz using Surveyor 2.0 will/may experience the same dislocation.

Personally for me pware, even if S30 becomes a thing in the next generation of Trainz I've already tapped out from the franchise as I have already said many times on here. N3V needs more passion for its franchise and actually listen to their customers. A business is ONLY successful when issues are addressed and not a band-aid remedy. Piss them off enough and they go to the competitors. This is why a sim like SimRail is so appealing to me. Sure it doesn't yet have an editor (yet( it is leaps and bounds ahead of Trainz in simulation and realism.

My advice for learning S20 was not a slam against those that never got used to it (or outright hate the changes), but rather learning something new is the greater challenge. I am sure you and other long time Trainzer's got. I think my advice like this.

Imagine if no one bothered learning Windows 95 (the first time the Start menu was introduced), or Windows 10/11? Just happily wanted to stay in DOS forever (yes that was a thing) because of it being complicated. I went from Apple ][ green/amber/silver displays as a kid of 5 years old to full color Windows 3.11 at age 14, to Windows 98SE as a young adult. All of this led me to servers, Linux, networking and eventually a degree in Computer Science in Network Administration (as an aside I HATE that I chose that "career path")

S10 broke my brain, and I was aware that S20 was the new kid in town, but I wrapped my head around it quickly with little to no help (YouTube Trainz videos were too old), and documentation is really only on the Wiki (of which covers more S10 than S20 at this point. (Though it is being updated as I have seen). I do what you are saying pware though.

The community of Trainz is pretty amazing and have added a lot to this game (the REAL passionate people). I never discount that, because I surrounded myself with experts that know more than me. That gave me the success I worked hard at in Trainz.
