A change to email notifications?

Hi All,

Can you check your email settings in the forum and Planet Auran please and see if they match. if the Forum profile email address is different try checking that email account or changing it to one you use.
 
Yes, they both match. I haven't changed a thing except for a brief period when I changed to a different account in the forum to see if that would work - it didn't. Now I am back to 'hiballer @ sbcglobal.net' all the way around.

The email notifications stopped abruptly about four weeks ago. I didn't notice at first, but then got suspicious because I began seeing posts after mine, but didn't get an email.

Now, I get no email notifications at all of any kind - except, of course, Auran advertising and return emails from the 'help' desk.

I have just sent a email diagnostic to you though the forum admin panel, I tested it first on two of my accounts and seemed to work. Can you let me know if you receive the email.

Spiffy, after posting my HelpDesk question I emailed Bill through the forum. It was returned to my own email address and he did not get it. He got my email from my normal address though. Rather strange, I am now emailing him to see if something is wrong with this as well.

I received no emails from any official site address. As Craig said I am receiving his personal emails just fine, plus all my other friends emails. It appears that somebody down the line between Auran and me has a block in place. The return emails contain phrases like "blocked" and "incorrect formatting". This would indicate to me that somehow the email is failing a status or header check and being dumped. One error is "553 5.3.0 Is blocked" and the other is "501 5.6.0 Data Format Error". Both of these apparently combine to make the message fail at the SENDING end, not the receiver. I looked up the IP address that rejected it and see that it is from 'MyVirtualHome Pty Ltd'.

I had to get some sleep for an early morning, but will be available this evening again for more testing. I really want to figure out why official emails are being killed.

So, here I am again. Still no resolution to the problem. Somewhere between Auran and me is a server/ISP that is killing the emails to me about posts.

Does anyone know who 'MyVirtualHome Pty Ltd' actually is?

I haven't recieved a notification email from this forum for a very long time. I checked both forum and Auran profiles and both email addresses match. I can only get emails from the help desk.
 
I did a google search on "my virtual home". It's some kind of house planning program/site. Oddly enough, they're located in Austrailia.

If I remember correctly, isn't that a company that either Greg Lane or Tony Hilliam (both from Auran) set up. I think its a computer based program system for designing your own homes (well that fits in with the title :hehe: )

Apparently there aren't enough of us to make a difference. What we need is for more of us to bug Auran about this and find out WHY we aren't getting them. I have all but given up on doing anything within the forum because of this. I have better things to do than just keep hitting the forum to check and see who has answered my posts. The whole design on the email notifications is so that we DON'T have to check in every hour.
