A Bit Shocking

Hi,as to the 2 wheel leading trucks(US term for bogeys),the 4 wheel leading trucks were much better at "leading"a locomotive through curves and complicated yard and passenger station trackage .Now I am talking about Big Time,Class one,Mainline Railroading,and not the low speed branch line type operations. I believe that the AT&SF used FT's to pull their premier Passenger Trains in the early 1950's,but I don't know how they dealt with the issue of steam for the train?....Randy

The FT were not used on passenger in the 50's, by that time they had F3's and F7's.

And to solve the problem of steam heat, they put boilers in the B-units, making them Technically FP7Bs, altho they were not called that.
 
to take up on Kris' comment, the only reason some RRs used FTs for passenger was for either testing or the train was to long or heavy for an F7 to take
