720m x 720m basemap

I'm working on a side project and I'm in need of a 720m by 720m basemap. I know they used to be around but I can't seem to find them now. The only one's I finding are the 1km basemaps. Are the 720m x 720m basemap still around someplace?

I believe that the 1km x 1km Basemap (A-Z) and (Zero-9) is all that exists. I think Auran baseboards are the thing that is 720m x 720m.

I have over 300 clones of "Basemap A" which I use for Google Earth, and Topo images. Yes they are cumbersome, and bigger than a single Trainz baseboard, but they do work well.

-surveyorfov=185 is the line I added to my Trainzoptions file when manipulating basemaps around (as a wide angle far away view makes things easier).

I did try the 1 km basemaps first but it added too much unwanted extra space on the layout. I have a map (track plans) that are 3 by 4 boards. I'd like to try to keep it that size.

In the discriptions of the basemaps that are on the DL Station...

This Basemap is based on the 720m x 720m Basemap by 'weevil'

When I searched the username, no basemaps came up in the search.

Yuo should have mail,

An email has been sent to you via Auran regarding 720x720m basemaps.

Cheers,

Bill.

Unless I am mistaken the size of baseboards in both TRS2004 and TRS2006 is 720mtr x 720mtrs and I believe that this size was carried over into the TC versions but won't put money on it as I don't have them. Is a basemap and a baseboard the same thing?

Cheers
Russell.

Hi Russell,

the baseboards in all versions of Trainz are 720x720m.

a basemap is the picture you overlay on to your baseboard as per picture below, the one shown is for my own use but can be made available.

The basemap you can lower below the surface and you can toggle between wireframe (F9) on and of to lay your track and objects correctly.

Cheers,

Bill.

PS, MrScott2006 will send pm.

The DLS basemaps are objects and are 1k square so overlap the baseboards. They are made this size as it easier to get a map texture to put onto it.

To elaborate; some basemaps were made by British creators and the 1km size was chosen to correspond with the 1km National Grid used on our Ordnance Survey maps. If you want another size and have GMax, Blender etc. it is easy enough to create your own size as the object is only a square plane.

I have found Weevil's 720x720 basemaps in my stored files. They are in zip form so I must have got them from somewhere other than the DLS. The config file gives no indication of origin and they didn't come from TrainzLuvr as I did a search there. I did a quick test with one and it works in 2009 OK. I suggest you contact Weevil to see how to get them.
