64-bit Operating Systems

There are now 64-bit versions of both Windows XP and Windows Vista. Does anyone know if Trainz 2009 will run, without problems, on these two operating systems.

64 bit XP never did have the reputation for having lots of driver support from companies so 64 bit Vista might be better.

I am running TS2009 on my XP Pro 64-bit system.

Trainz runs very well, no problems have popped up, except for CM2, which works about one percent of the time.

Having 4GB of memory certainly helps. And the dual core machine allows the AI to occupy the second core, great stuff.

From what I have read on these forums, Trainz likes XP better than Vista. I am waiting for Windows 7, I might give that a try.

No Open Gl In Surveyor With Vista 64 bit

Vista 64 bit using Open GL freezes the computer while working in Surveyor for me.
I build with Direct X and then when I want to play I change to Open GL.

Seems to be a problem with the Graphics Card. My System:

OS Name Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium 64 bit
Version 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1 Build 6001
System Manufacturer HP-Pavilion
System Model KQ498AA-ABA m9350f
System Type x64-based PC
Processor AMD Phenom(tm) 9850 Quad-Core Processor, 2500 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

Total Physical Memory 6.00 GB

NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

I'm happily running TRS06 on XP Pro x64 with no probs at all.

Quad Core 2.66G
8Gig of RAM
Nvidia 9800 GTX+ 512Meg card
1 Tb drive

I have had no problems running Trainz 2006 on Vista Home Premium 64 bit (besides the bugs already in the program). I used to run it on XP Media Center 32 bit, and have actually noticed a slight increase in program stability when using the Vista 64 bit, like less Control-Z undo crashes.

Specs:
Gateway LX6200-01 (barely...:D )
AMD Phenom II 940 3.0 GHz Quad Core
8.00 GB RAM
750 GB Hard Drive
512 MB Diamond (ATI) Radeon HD 4850
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit

I do not have Trainz 2009, but plan to maybe later this year or early next year, after the bugs get squashed.

Hope this helps somewhat!

Mouse Pointer missing on TS200 screen under Vista 64

TS2009 seems to come up fine on my new Vista 64bit machine but the mouse disappears .. It is there but I can't see it on the screen ... I have to move the mouse until I see buttons light up to click on them ... has anyone else experienced this porblem on Vista 64

I've tried to run TS2009 on XP with a 32 MB Graphics card, and it didn't work. So i suspect that I'll need either to degrade down to Trainz Railway Simulator 2006, or get a 64 or 254 MB Graphics card. Any suggestions? :(

timberdv - it may be the AMD Phenom, a very buggy CPU, the AMD Phenom II is much better.
YNER - TS09 needs at lest 128 MB graphics card to run and it must support graphic compression, my old computer did not have ether and will not run 09. Get at lest a 512 MB for 09.

thanks, whitepass. Now, what kind of 512MB graphics card should I get? what works best for 2009, or Trainz 2006+?

Yes, Russ ... mine does the same thing. HP HDX9000 notebook running Vista 64 with an abundance of memory. No cursor. So, I don't use the program any more. Sad. WISH SOMEONE WOULD TELL US THE FIX ... and email me the answer at lawbook@jurisdictionary.com

I have a 6 month old home built computer with pretty decent specs. I am dual booting Vista Ultimate 64 bit and XP Pro 32 bit. I have TS2009 installed on both OS's. When I run Trainz on the Vista OS, the splash screen (the screen right after you select Start from the launcher) will display for up to 3 minutes before moving on to the screen where you select Surveyor, Driver etc. Trainz running under XP only displays that splash screen for a few seconds. Once I am in Driver and running a route, I see no difference with performance between the two OS's. On both OS's DirectX gives me smoother animation in Trainz than OpenGL. I am pretty sure that is a function of the graphics card/driver and not the OS since I see it on both OS's.

Asus P5Q motherboard
Intel Q6600 quad core cpu overclocked to 3.4 Ghz
4 Gb Corsair ram
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS
