3ds Max 2012 and Trainz

I think it will work with TS2010 just fine. You might want to confirm in the Content Creation forum, but I've used the TS12 TrainzMeshImporter with Blender and things export just fine. Of course, I haven't tried doing animations yet...

No! you can certainly not have importers or exporters for this game!

Is there anyway I can export a model in 3ds max 2012 to Trainz Simulator 2010?
You must understand this above all. Auran and Trainz is about revenue protection! They do not want talented people to explore their secret underworld. They have no working credible exporter or importer, why? They class everyone elses work as trash! Look in your files for that one. That should tell you everything about Auran. Unlike Software companies like Bethesda who try and promote software art and technology for people who want to come into the business. Auran wants you to be just the moron who buys it! Again and again. I'm sorry to Trainz regulars for this post but it is the truth! There are a few talented people who supply good material for free, but the rest you must pay for.

Zapata what are you on about.

Never heard such a load of rubbish, Auran/N3V have always supplied creditable and fully functional exporters for trains right from day 1, maybe day 2, sure they haven't got an importer but thats totally understandable nobody wants there content robbed. Auran/N3V have continusly updated trainz content capability, and have have document it for EVERYONE!!!, however they could do better in that department. So for the life of me I don't know what you are on about, I think you need to take a chill pill

You must be trolling

CR@P!

CR@P! I say it again, your statemant is a LOT OF CR@P!

3DS Max 2012 exports just fine with the correct Max Exporter for it out of Max 2012 and the so exported xxxx.im file will import into any Trainz version from TRS 04 on up to the latest versions of Trainz which include TS09, TS10 and TS12. It goes without saying one needs to follow certain creating guide lines, texture formats etc. and certain proper and correct configurations to get the exported xxxx.im file to show up in Trainz and to work as it should.

Any of the 3DS Max Exporters from Max 4 onwards will do the exporting providing one uses the correct exporter for the 3DS Max version one is using. As far as I know, there is no exporter yet for 3DS Max 2013 but knowing N3V Games, there will be one sometimes soon.

Importing different 3D formats into for Max? Yes some different formats indeed import into Max, some can get converted to other formats before importing these but again, why would you want to if you want to create these yourself? Some of us creators have been creating with Max for years, just look what is on the DLS or available as PayWare fro Trainz.

Best is not to speak up here if you do not know what you are talking about.

My opinion.

So true. I mean, who wants people to create content for their product, thus promoting sales? Oh, wait...

This has to be one of the most ridiculous posts ever made on this forum, in part because it so clearly contradicts itself.

Back to the subject of exporters, there are not just exporters for 3DS, but for Blender, for GMax, and even for Sketchup. And there are 3DS exporters for every version since 4, I believe. On top of it all, there are a few creators working in other programs who are able to get their stuff into Trainz. I create in Blender myself, and that exporter works like a charm.

Hmm, just noticed this...I strongly suspect he is talking about the "other" sim, the one that's using Trainz' name but has no connection whatsoever. Pretty much everything for that sim is payware; even the freeware depends on payware to work.

I've download both the max exporter and the trainz importer for 3ds Max 2012, but I don't know what to do with them.

I would have chimed in earlier but as I don't own a current copy of 3DS, I have no idea. Again, try asking in the CC forum. I do believe NorfolkSouthern37, SteveLerro, etc. work in 3DS and might be able to point you in the right direction if no one responds to you promptly in the CC forum. However, there are quite a few users of that program here, and most are quite helpful, so they might be able to give you some tips.
