3ds max 2009 exporter problem

I have 3ds max 2009 and I downloaded the JetExporter.dle and when I start up 3ds max, I get this error.

DLL <C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3dsMax 2009\JetExporter.dle> failed to initialize. Error code 193 - %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

I searched the forums here, and could not find how to fix this. Anyone know what I might be doing wrong :(

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium with service pack 2.
System Mfg. is Gateway
Model : LX6810-01
Processor: Intel(R) Core(Tm)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 2.34 GHz
Memory (Ram): 8.00 gb
System Type: 64-bit Operating System

OK, my next question is, does JetExporter.dle work with 3ds max 2009 Win32? Has anyone actually made an asset using 3ds max 2009? I reinstalled max using the 32 bit version, and JetExporter does show up in Plugin Manager, and it does export without errors.

I get this when I export. Error: Unable to load indexed mesh 'export\brick_house.im'

I followed the same tutorial that I did using gmax and I managed to get the brick_house into Trainz. I must be doing something wrong during the export, but I don't know what it is.

Thanks for helping...

Yeah, the exporter works OK and installed meshes alright with me. I had a trial version of 3DS Max with which I did the exporting and installing. I am still using my older 3DS Max 5 version for current content creating as for TRS/TS creating this version does everything the newer version does.

Getting the above error message, is this also what you get when resaving, exporting and installing this object? Make sure all textures have the required nomenclature for TS09/10, if this is the version you are installing to.

Try to install your object in a different version of TRS/TS (if you have) and see if the error message persist. Or wait for a more qualified answer.

Vinny, your answer is good enough, I believe you.

I seem to have a problem on my hands tho. I went back and redid the brick_box that I did in Gmax, and I am getting the same problem. So, something has changed my *.IM exports. Some setting that I must have fiddled around with. Now I have to stop and think of what I have been doing over the last few days. And being retired, that is a lot of stuff.

Also make sure you do have the relevant texture.txt files (with the correct texture map(s) name(s) in your export folder which the exporter will make and export to your exporting folder if you tell/configure the exporter so. You can also export all needed texture maps with your 3DS Max 2009 so you have ALL required correct files in your export folder. The other thing to check also is to have the RIGHT mesh name (the xxxx.im) which your config.txt has, so check and compare that too as well all the correct texture names specified in your texture.txt files when importing these into the game.

Thanks Vinny,

I have found out one thing. When I export from 2009, the exporter complains if I leave the 01 - Default as the name. It told me I needed an m.material name. So I have been naming my texture m.brick_max. I get the error.

Now, Gmax lets me put in just brick_max and it works fine. But when I put in m.brick_max in, I get the error, and this is in Gmax! What gives? What should my texture name be? I have looked everywhere I can think of to try to determine what I should be using as names out of 2009.

That worked Mike, thank you very much.
Thank you too Vinny. I did need to install the 32 bit version of 3ds Max 2009.

I found these material types when I googled trainz onetex, in Trainz Online wiki. These all go after your material name.

.m.notex
.m.onetex
.m.reflect
.m.gloss
.m.tbumptex
.m.tbumpgloss
.m.tbumpenv

I guess I did miss the link Justin. But you gave me the info I needed to continue, and I thank you very much.
