first timer can you use 2 monitors in Trainz 2010, thanks

I believe so.

One monitor would display Trainz ... and the other the internet, or other applications.

If both monitors were displaying Trainz, the screens would be exactly identical ... defeating the purpose.

I run Trainz windowed so that I can view a topo map or Google Earth, with Trainz on the same screen. You can slide the windows, and Trainz around the desktop.

What would be neat if Trainz had a two monitor, split screen capability, stereoscopic view (like cenimascope, or panavision) so you could get a really wide angle view, like the eye sees ... instead of tunnel vision

As far as I know, you CAN run Trainz in 2- and 3-screen setups (all the monitors must be driven from the same video card, though).

Look at http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Trainz/Trainzoptions.txt and you'll see the options:
-dualhead
-surround

But what I am saying, it won't be a 2-3 monitor wrap around screen, like professional prototype railroad training simulators have.

I think I i know what you mean cascade, wouldn't -surround do what the pro set ups do ?

Enables support for triple-display (triple-head / surround gaming) mode. (ie. 12:3 ratio)

I don't know ? Would you just replace the trainzoptions file line of: -fullscreen , with -surround or -dualhead ? ? ?

I would think it's a bit more complicated than just hooking up 3 monitors & inserting possibly -fullscreen & -surround, it says you have to run in 12:3 mode, so I think there must be some graphics card setting up to it.
I haven't had to get that technical, so it's all supposition from here.

I think you will find that dualhead and triple head are not available in TS2010 and TS12.
