1890 - 1910 Era Railroading

Is there any interest in a Special Interest Group for modeling the Golden Era of Steam - 1890 - 1910? Back then, railroads were the only means of land transportation other than horses and every factory ran on steam power.

I find very little Trainz content for this era other than a few wooden boxcars and two or three steam locomotives. Let's get a thread going where we can share resources, needs and ideas.

For example, I am looking for a water tank for branch line service. The only one I find is the NYC which is way to big. Also a small coal chute would be nice.

I have relettered a bunch of Pencil42's wooden boxcars for railroads from the era and would be willing to do one for your favorite road. (These cars self number, so you only need one asset to create multiple cars each with a different number.)

On the DLS search for "old west", ensure you have selected 2004 and select description - this will give 25 results of old time buildings and rolling stock.

Check out Subpar productions (don't have the actual website available but google it and it will be there!) for locomotives and rolling stock - not too sure about buildings though. Also, when viewing subpar, there are links to other excellent sites which may have some of what you are looking for.

Hope this helps.

Have fun

Brian,

Thanks for the input on Subpar Productions-Home. He has some really nice steam power there under "Downloads SG" and "Downloads Genric". However, I did not find any links to other sites.

The old west search has some items that would work for this era, especially the horse drawn vehicles.

That still leaves a BIG VOID in available content for this era. :(

Is anyone else even interested in modeling this era?

If you make it from 1890-1940 I'm in. Not that much in the way of American steamers here. The ones that are on here are good, but there are many steamers that are missing. Such as a Reading Mikado, N&W Y6, and maybe some of those big Mallets that ran around in PA.

Try the cowboy's old west locomotive works.

As for horses, type horses or wagons into the DLS and there should be some animated ones there.
