I guess the problem might then be either as pware mentioned my internet provider (however, i've had the same provider for the past 5 years and no problems before) or something windows related...
I made sure in windows defender that TRS22.exe is set as an exclusion (in windows defender, i created an exception for the file H:\Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022\TRS22.exe, as far as i could find this should make an exclusion to any scan for the selected .exe file and any files that are opened...

However, a few days ago when i closed content manager and wanted to launch trainz it initiated a Database Repair.
Nothing big, i thought, however when it got to "checking for faulty assets"...
