A change to email notifications?

Sorry if this is a double post. I tried once before and clicking "Submit" just made everything disappear - no post.

Has there been a change in email notifications from the forum? I'm not receiving any in the threads I've posted in.

According to my profile, I'm supposed to get them.

I have been getting my email notifications Bill. Last time this happened to me (and Zec) there where only a few people that had the problem. Even Spiffy (think the name is right :hehe: ) could not see a problem. Eventually though he did remember there was a problem and it is on there list of faults to fix.

You may need to go through the HelpDesk on this one, if no one has any other answer.

I would say so Bill, mention to the HelpDesk that Spiffy may have the answer. Hopefully that will point them in the right direction to the problem/solution.

Let me know if I can help more and I will find the thread (I think I started it :hehe: ).

I'm still not getting any notifications. Helpdesk passed the problem to the "Forum Manager" (whomever that is) so it is anyone's guess as to when this will get solved.

In the meantime, I have to go to my Control panel and list all the threads I'm subscribed to and then search each one for new posts. Not hardly efficient I think.

That's a good idea, but on a any given day there could be a lot of posts. Weeding out posts I didn't subscribe to is tedious at best. It is easier (relatively) to go to my CP and hit the link for "List Subscriptions". That way, you only see the ones you have posted in.

What needs to happen is for the problem to be fixed - not some workaround.

Apparently, no help is forthcoming. I have been kissed off by the HelpDesk and (I guess) the forum administrator. They say they can't find anything wrong, which is not the same as saying there isn't anything wrong.

I have tried changing my email address to as different account and resetting the notification method in my profile. Let's see if that helps.

Bill and others,

When I posted about this problem some time ago, Spiffy and others where receiving Email Notifications but I and some others where not. Eventually Spiffy remembered/discovered what our problem was and this may be why they can not "see" the problem. What Spiffy found was;

Hi Craig, yeah i found that bug yesterday, it looks like changing your email in planet auran doesnt update the forum email, its on our list of things to fix.

I have just emailed the HelpDesk and Spiffy (if that works) about this with reference to my first thread and also this thread. Lets hope this will help them to resolve the problem.

EDIT: Bill, I did the same thing as you, changed my email address and that did not work either.

Hi, thought I would add a simple post here to see if anything has been fixed :hehe:

The HelpDesk replied yesterday and they/he was hopeful that the answer from another thread may be the solution to the problem. I did ask Spiffy to post here as well, so I suppose nothing will be fixed until he does.

I will post if I receive any other information from Spiffy or the HelpDesk.

Hi Bill,

I have not heard anything else from the HelpDesk. I had asked them to post in this thread once they have fixed the problem.

I am not sure there is much more we can do at the moment :(

The threads that I have recently posted on, I seem to be getting update emails ok at present, but no emails when I post; still.
Besides the email updates situation, I have serious downloading problems from the ftp site, & still nothing done to fix that. I can manually (one at a time) download using ftp, or use Auran's downloader (I have TRS2004 & refuse to use CMP). But I want to use Downloader Pro & cannot, because Auran have done something to prevent it working. Similarly I find Trainz Agent has now been denied access too.
Complaints to the helpdesk just fall on deaf ears, with the pat reply that "we're not responsible for 3rd party software". However there's nothing wrong with the perfectly excellent Downloader pro, but certainly very much wrong with Trainz. It's Auran who have messed things up, no-one else.
But they refuse to take responsibility.
 
I feel the same way Noel. I think at this point that my best course of action is to just delete the Auran forum from my Favorites list. I may come by for a read, but I will not make any posts in it because I just can't deal with all the stuff I have to go through to find threads I have subscribed to.

I agree that the Helpdesk isn't, er, helping. You and I certainly aren't the only ones having this problem. Until more voices are raised, it isn't going to be fixed.

Subscriptions run-a-muck

I had just the opposite problem with a subscription added with every post, but I found help in the Forums Suggestion Box thread, you might ask for help there. I had setting to no notifications, so your setting may not be what you wanted there in your options.

I still don't see why it is difficult for you find the forum strings you have posted to that have a new post. I have no problem. Maybe I misuderstand your complaint.

My complaint is that in order for me to find NEW posts to the threads I have posted in, I must first go to my 'User CP', wait for it to load (Sometimes the servers are VERY slow to load personal dat - like the Control Panel) and then navigate to any new posts since my last post in any given thread. This is a PITA as my trifocals make my screen a bit fuzzy.

It is SO much easier if I simply get an email - which I used to do before they stopped - and click the link and get taken immediately to the correct post. If I am doing something else, the post opens in a new tab for me and I can take a look at it later.
