Anyone out there able to point me in the right direction on gaining hopefully track plans for the Port Richmond coal terminal of the Reading Railroad in Philadelphia, Pa?

The Reading Company Technical and Historical Society is a pretty good resource for information. They may or may not be able to help you at the moment though since they are currently moving their archives.

The track shouldn't be that different from today, though some of it might have been torn out by Confail. I will try to find some more info for you, but I cannot promise anything. There is probably more info on your route than there would be on the Shamokin Division though.

Edit: Also, Don't forget to try the Philadelphia Historical society.

Edit2: For some good pics, try the book "Reading Company in Color volume 2"

This would be perfect for you. It is the entire Port Richmond Facility. I will PM it to you also.

WOW jadebullet,

Brings back a lot of old memories for me looking at the .pdf file.

I was born and raised in Philly, just North of Port Richmond.... AND... actually lived on Richmond Street (bottom street in diagram). I remember the rail activity that took place there.

Now..that would be quite a project to create that route and yard area.

Regards,
