ICG West Switch Run

IC/ICG did have one of the more interesting paint schemes out there. Always nice to see them in Trainz.

oh okay, well i guess someone just didnt know their logos!

ICG is still modern Illinois Central. Illinois Central is still a railroad since Canadian National can only subsidize railroads. The ICG was actually just called Illinois Central back with the new paint scheme with the fading "I" logo, a change which came about in the 1980s. Original Illinois Central was the green diamond logo. "I" came with the ICG. :) Currently they roster C40-8Ws, C44-9Ws, SD40-2Rs (rare), SD70s (saw one in original paint tonight!), GP38-2s, GP40Rs, and a SMALL amount of SW14s. I'm sure I'm missing a few.

Cheers,
Joshua

i just mean that someone used the IC logo on the ICG engine. not really a big deal...

the one on the nose is IC as seen in the stylized rail and dot offset over the part that would be the 'I'.

the logo changed after the merger with GM&O forming ICG. the logo is similar but is like this

later on when they re-organized into IC again this became the logo.

Hallo,

nice to see the ICG project here, because I have something in the pipeline which could be useful.

I created the car using the nice “undec ps2 4750 cu ft covered hopper” available at DLS. Many thanks goes to Conn McCarthy and to N8PHU for all the work providing that DLS-asset including the permission to create further versions from it. Also many thanks to James Moody for his support in script writing.

The car now supports season change and air hose animation as well as automated running numbers. Also I introduced additional smoke on top of the car which provides a better smoke effect while loading. I am still about to create seasonal bogeys as well.

The car has been created originally for my Milwaukee Road Project, but just after creation I found out that the ICG was formed in 1972 after the merger of IC and the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad. As my Avery-Drexel-Route represents the time at the late 60’s to 1971 its just a little too early to use the ICG hoppers at this route. Therefore it is very nice to see another “playground” for it coming up here.

Question, does anybody has pictures how a IC hopper used to look like still wearing the green diamond logo? I would like to create such IC hoppers too which then would also match into the time period of my Avery-Drexel-Route.
Thanks a lot :)

you probably wouldnt find a ps2 in any kind of 'diamond' scheme. at that time they would probably be just a gray with small black lettering if any existed at all. you could do one with the logo i mentioned above - pre ICG but it would be very new in the 1969 period.

there is also this version

both are circa 1969.

i would suggest making your car a little less, 'grainy' and working on the orange a bit. it looks very washed out.

Hallo norfolksouthern37,

thank you very much for this helpfull information.

BTW: You still can see your very nice bogeys at these cars. Unfortunately it does not support season change. Therefore I am about to create a set of seasonal bogeys to replace yours - but I am a bit sad because of this as I like your bogeys :)
