Freight car designations and Railyard

I enjoy the industry/commodity aspect of Trainz 2006. With the great variety of commodities, I sometimes have problems figuring out which rolling stock carries which commodities. For example, 40ft Stockcar Canadian Pacific 227578,<kuid:56063:104017> carries not only cattle, but apple, beer, butter, cheese, fruit, general goods, orange juice, oranges, potatoes, vegetable (canned), vegetables (frozen). (I hope the cattle car is cleaned before hauling the other products!)

While reading another thread “Prototype Operations in Trainz”, I referred to the Content Creators Guide and discovered a list of freight car designations. So I thought I would find an example of each type and save it to my favorites in Railyard.

Freight car designations as listed in the Trains Content Creator’s Guide 2006, Chapter11, Appendix A.

XVP Produce service

For XGR Rotary Dumping, the TTX_tofc_89flatcar config file shows XGR. I can’t wait to see this unloaded. I could not find examples for XAB, XB, XGT, XH, XHE, XLA, XLC, XR, XS, XSN, XT and XVP. Can anyone provide examples of these? I searched DLS to fill in what I had not previously downloaded in over 200 routes and sessions. I didn’t know there was a Horse Box prior to compiling this list. I am interested in what the XLA and XLC freight cars would look like. And, if anyone can suggest corrections/additions to my list above, I would appreciate it.

Also, whenever I have deleted the assets.tdx file to rebuild the Trainz asset database, it seems that my favorites in Railyard have disappeared and have to be re-entered. Has anyone else noticed this?

At least now I have a freight car list I can add to my favorites in Railyard and select when building my consists in Surveyor,

Thanks,
Bill

Given that the favourites are stored as a flag in the assets.tdx file, that's not entirely surprising...

This is one area where using the keywords is an improvement, as the keywords database can be backed up and restored seperate to the assets themselves. (plus, you can implement 'different sets of favourites' this way, eg your freight favourites, your passenger favourites, etc)
